“Congrats on your first sell,” Stacey yells, popping a bottle of champagne. She gives a glass to everyone and when she tries to hand me one, I decline.
“What’s going on with you Costella? You pregnant or something?”
Sipping on my tea, I smile, but don’t respond.
    “OH MY GOD! YOU’RE PREGNANT!”
The girls in the office start freaking out and congratulating me. I hate that they found out since we wanted to keep this to ourselves, but I’m sure it’ll be all right.
Everyone’s congratulating me and it feels good to know that I can do my job and make my team proud. We spend the rest of the day celebrating , and Albert gives us the rest of the day off.
I get in the car and call Connor. His phone rings and he answers on the third ring.
    “Babe! Guess what?”
“What?” He laughs. God, I love his laugh and miss him already. I hate that we’re away for a few hours , and that I even feel this way. My love for him grows, and I love hearing how happy he sounds when we talk.
“Boom, babe! I nailed it!” I start bouncing my seat and laughing in the phone with Connor.
“I knew you could do it, Erin. I’m proud of you!”
“Thanks! But I’m heading to Zedd’s to celebrate! I’ll be home by six, okay?”
“Sounds good, baby. Have fun and congratulations. I love you.”
Grinning like a cheesy person, I tell Connor I love him too and hang up the phone. Life can’t get any better.

Chapter Six

“Alright, gentlemen, everything seems to be in order. Let’s follow-up next week and let me know where we are with the California project.”
The men in the conference room all shake hands , and we agree to meet again next week. Once everyone is out, I fall back into my chair and let out a deep breath. These meetings and endless hours in the office are taking a toll on my body and my time with Erin. I miss her when we’re not together, but I know what I need to do to ensure we have a comfortable future. I slowly get up from the chair and straighten everything in the conference room. As I make my way out, Sophia comes over to me with a smile on her face. “Sophia? How can I help my best friend?”
She jumps in my arms and laughs. “I’m hungry and Adam’s too busy to do anything , so can we, ah, go get sushi?” Her voice is low, and she looks around the office.
“Yeah. No. Adam will kill me if I do that. You’re pregnant. No sushi!”
Sophia punches my chest and waves her hands letting me know to lower my voice. I laugh and shake my head. “Cooked sushi is fine and that’s what I want.”
I raise up my hand and point up my index finger. “First, I know you and know you hate cooked sushi.” I point up my second finger. “Second, no.” I give Sophia a kiss on her forehead and take her hand. I know she’s pouting and is mad that I won’t give in to her , but I’m excited to be an uncle, and I know my brother will kill me. We walk into Adam’s office. He’s on the phone and waves his hand, letting us know to sit down. Sophia fidgets in her seat and tries to get comfortable. “You alright?”
Sophia looks at me and her face is pale. She gets up from the couch and runs out the office. Adam looks worried and rushes to get off the phone , but I put my hand up letting him know I’ll go check on Sophia.
I walk down the hall and into the bathroom. I push open the door and hear Sophia gagging. I hurry to her side and hold back her hair. I rub small circles on her back and her body relaxes. “Shhh, you’re okay, babe.”
She leans into me and cries. “I hate this , Connor. I throw up all the time. I thought being pregnant would be great. Adam loves it, but I hate it. I’m always crying and nothing stays down.”
I kiss her on the top of her head. “It’s okay, sweetheart. You’re going to be a mom soon, and it’ll be worth it in the end. Just think, you and Adam created life, and soon you’ll meet your little boy or girl. You’re strong, Soph.
