find a doctor.â
It was just as Darcy had feared. âI know someone who might help.â
There was a beat of silence before Darius said, âYou trust them?â
âShe doesnât know about magic or that Iâm a Druid. But sheâs good at what she does. Itâs not in Sophieâs nature to turn away those in need. Sheâll help.â
Darius sighed. âWhatâs her name?â
âSophie Martin. She works at the Royal Victoria Hospital in Edinburgh.â
Warrick added, âIâll get Ryder to send over all her details.â
âDid Thorn call you again?â Darius asked.
Darcy glanced at Warrick. âNo. It was just something in the way he spoke of Lexi.â
âThank you,â Darius said.
Warrick said Dariusâs name to keep him from ending the call. âWhatâs the story with the woman?â
âSheâs an American visiting here, and one of her friends was killed by the Dark. Lexi set out to find the killer.â
Darcy was so shocked she couldnât find the words. Sheâd had her own run-in with the Dark. Thereâs no way she would actively seek them out. Then she looked at Warrick and knew she would do anything for him, including facing a horde of Dark Fae.
Warrick whistled low. âAre you going to stop her?â
âWhat do you think Thorn will do?â
âI think heâll help her.â
Darius chuckled. âI suspect youâre right.â
âHow are things there?â Darcy asked.
âBad. Verra bad,â Darius answered in a grim tone. âThereâs been no sign of Ulrik.â
Warrick said, âRyder can noâ find him anywhere either.â
âHe may be with the Dark.â
Darcy still had mixed feelings about Ulrik. She had been the one to unbind his magic, and in doing so she got to see his past through his memories. There were things the others couldnât begin to fathom that heâd endured.
All because he had been betrayed by a human and retaliated in the only way he couldâby killing them. All that got him was banishment from Dreagan and to walk the earth forever in human form.
Until he found her.
âIâll let you know about the doctor,â Darius said.
The call ended, but Darcy was still thinking about Ulrik. She had truly thought him an ally.
Warrickâs hand covered hers. âI hate him for nearly killing you.â
She hated Ulrik for nearly being killed.
âBut,â Warrick said, âthe Dark think youâre dead. Theyâre no longer looking for you.â
Darcy shifted to face him. âI know. I keep wondering if Ulrik did it on purpose.â
âI can noâ figure it out myself. He had no reason to help you.â
âUnless heâs not as bad as everyone thinks.â
Warrick raised a brow. âIf Con or the Druids hadna been there, you wouldâve died.â
âBut I didnât. Iâm here. Letâs think on that.â
Warrick kissed her forehead as he pulled her against him. âUlrik brought Lily back from the dead. Now thereâs a possibility that he helped you. Yet heâs aligned with the Dark to bring us down. None of it makes sense.â
âOne moment I think Ulrik is a decent guy, and the next I think heâs the Devil himself.â Darcy held Warrick tighter, thankful that she had him in her life. âTrying to figure it out makes my head hurt.â
âAye, love, but if we choose wrong, it could be the end of us.â
*Â Â Â *Â Â Â *
Darius stood at the back of the Royal Victoria Hospital. From what Ryder discovered, Dr. Sophie Martin was due to get off work in thirty minutes.
He had already been by her flat. On the way to the hospital, heâd cleared several streets of Dark Fae. It had taken him longer than he wouldâve liked to cart the bodies to the warehouse and remain unseen.
Like Warrick, Darius didnât mind working alone. With
