nicely would be a big improvement when it grew back.
“I’ll pick you up. Morgan is going to call Margaret and then there are the other four. I think Dane has to pick up her dress yet too. Did Damon ask you to go to the charity event with him? If he d idn’t, then you’ll go with me. So, let’s get you a d ress for that while we’re out. I’ll be there in fifteen minutes.” Then the line was dead.
That was another thing about Taylor she liked. Her “let’s get i t done and right fucking now.” She was sure that her laid back husband took trips to get a way from the little dynamo. Charlie was still smiling about it when the house phone rang. She didn’t answer i t, but let it go to voice mail. It was Damon.
“Hey, Charlie. Pick up the phone, baby, if your there. I want t o talk to you about something. Charlie?”
“Hello? I’m here. I just got off the phone with Taylor. She is picking me up soon. Are you sure Connor isn’t any bother?”
“Ye s, I’m sure. He’s a great kid. I forgot to ask you something last night. I think it was the sight of that luscious b ody that distracted me. I’ve been fighting a hard-on all morning and I can’t wait to get back ho me and make love to you again . Y ou’re not too sore, are you?”
“No. Not too bad. I never…that was really nice. I…I almost took a bath, but I didn’t think I’d ever get out just thinking about the things we did last night. The way your cock felt in my mouth.”
He was quiet for so long she was nervous that she had said something wrong. But when he spoke again, she felt her whole body respond to his silky voice an d his words. She was going to have to change again if he kept this up.
“I was going to be offended with the ‘nice’ comment, and then you had to mention you taking me into your mouth. Christ, I’m never goin g to make it through fittings. I have to go and get—hello, Connor. I’m just talking to your mom.”
Charlie burst out laughing at the abrupt subject change. When he growled at her, she knew he was going to make her pay for laughing and decided she was looking forward to it. She could hear her son in the background and knew that he was confused at Damon’s behavior too.
“Okay, I’ll ask her for us. Charlie, there’s this thing this weekend. My mom has this huge ev ent every year and it’s formal. I’m going to pick up my tux today and have Connor fitted for one while I’m there. I want you both to be my dates for it. Will you?”
His date. She knew that they h ad slept together, but a date? With his family there too? She knew that this was going to be the turning point of their relationship, but she didn’t fe el panicky about it. She would need to talk to Connor first, but she knew that he liked Damon too.
“Yes. I mean, if you’re sure. I’m no t exactly the formalwear type. I don’t even k now how to buy a formal dress. Are you sure about this?” Okay, maybe a little panicky.
“Yes, I’m very sure. I guess you’re goin g to be out with Taylor today. Have her help you. I’ll call her about paying for the dress. I’m sorry it’s last minute, but I’m sure s he’ll be able to help you out. Charlie? There’s something I…I need to talk to you, baby. All right? Tonight. We’ll talk tonight.”
After talking with Connor and warning him to be ca reful and behave, she hung up. She wasn’t thrilled about Damon paying for her dress, but knew that she couldn’t afford anything near what he woul d be used to without his help. She was just putting the te a away when the doorbell rang. Taylor and Ronnie had come to get her.
It took Charlie twenty minutes to realize that s he had been incredibly stupid. Well, it really hadn’t taken that long, but long enough to realize that she needed to ask more specific questions when she went out with these women. The trim job hadn’t had anything at all to do with her hair—at least not the hair on her head at any rate. They were getting their bodies
