“Since you are our first guests, they are still setting up the bar, but y—”
The doorbell rang, announcing new mystery guests.
“Pardon me,” Sir said, excusing himself to answer the door.
Brie quivered. Who would be the next to kiss her? The pressure of guessing was exhilarating, but failure would be humiliating—there would be embarrassment for both parties if she guessed wrong.
Sir gave the same directions and a single male walked over to her. He lifted her chin and kissed her possessively, teasing her with his skilled tongue. Brie knew that kiss, but could not believe it.
    “Rytsar?”
He placed his gift on her tray. “ Radost moya , we meet again…”
Brie heard Sir slap his back with excessive force. “It was supposed to be a simple kiss, not an invasion.”
Rytsar chuckled and answered with his seductive Russian accent, “I could not resist.”
The two moved off to join Tono and Lea, leaving Brie alone. It was interesting to be the center of the party, but to play the role of blind observer.
She heard the clinking of glasses and Rytsar’s guttural laughter just before the doorbell rang again. Brie bit her lip as she felt Sir walk past by her to answer the door.
This time it was a large group of people, all laughing and chatting. She distinctly heard Headmaster Coen’s voice and felt sure he would be an easy one to pick out.
Most of the group moved past her and went directly to the kitchen. Only a few stayed behind to deliver gifts.
Brie couldn’t help smiling when the first leaned over to kiss her. The scent of perfume let her know this was not Headmaster Coen. The woman’s lips were supple and she surprised Brie by slipping a little tongue across her closed mouth.
Brie pulled back in astonishment. Which woman would dare to kiss her so brazenly? Brie shook her head, knowing the female was the wrong height to be Ms. Clark. That left only one person in her mind.
    “Mary?”
“Seriously? There is no way you could know it was me.” Mary pressed her fingers on the edges of Brie’s blindfold. “You must be able to see. I thought for sure the tongue would throw you off.”
“Ha! It was the fact you were so bold that gave you away, but I am surprised you came. Last I heard, you’d disowned me.”
“I had a little talk with Sir Davis and he persuaded me that you still need me. Who am I to deny such a convincing man, especially when I know he’s right?” Mary grabbed her chin and shook her head back and forth forcibly. “And aren’t you just the cutest little gift table? Hope you like standing there while the rest of us enjoy your party.”
Brie grinned. “I hope your present is worth the lackluster kiss you just gave me.”
Mary grabbed her face in both hands and gave her a long and overly passionate kiss that left Brie breathless. Blonde Nemesis leaned in close and said endearingly, “Bitch.”
Brie heard shifting of feet and knew that Mary’s little performance had been appreciated by the male population watching.
“I’m off to get a rum and cock. Oh wait, I meant Coke…” Mary’s laughter trailed behind her.
The next person took the tray from her before pressing his lips lightly on the back of her hand. The sweet but nonsexual gesture gave his identity away.
Brie bowed her head, pleased that he had come. “Mr. Gallant.”
“Very good, Miss Bennett. Happy birthday. Another year down, a lifetime yet to enjoy.” He handed back her tray and placed his gift upon it.
The person who followed wore aftershave, which hinted at his gender, but the kiss was sweet and gentle. When he pulled away, Brie furrowed her brow. Although it seemed remotely familiar, she was stumped. It was comparable to seeing a face she knew but could not place.
Brie tilted her head. “Could you kiss me again?”
Sir answered for him. “No, téa. Only one kiss allowed.”
Brie sighed nervously. No one was coming to mind—she had no answer to give. “I’m not sure, Master.”
    “Still, you
