to Ottawa, but this time he’d flown here with Mom and Dad. There’s no way Mom would climb into his little aircraft, preferring the comfort and stability of the commercial jets. Jake had the cab drop them off at Ryan’s, then continued on to the hotel. Ryan was still in Paris, but Mom and Dad had a key. It was funny that Ryan hadn’t suggested, as he usually did, that Jake stay there, too. Probably just pre-wedding jitters. It was really a moot point, given that Jake always politely declined and stayed in a hotel. It’s not that he didn’t love his brother, he just preferred to have his own space. Anyway, with the folks there, they would drive them both nuts. Especially when Mom regaled Ryan with Jake’s successes, which she was bound to do. Jake knew Ryan was sensitive about how well Jake had done with Finale Alley, the computer role-playing game Jake had created for fun but that had taken off in popularity, becoming the bestselling computer game in North America. Jake knew it was primarily luck that had landed him such extensive success, but Ryan seemed to believe Jake had some superior business expertise, or knowledge of markets, or some such. Jake knew he just had an instinct. An instinct he knew his brother also possessed. If only Ryan would stop trying to think everything to death and listen to his gut.
As Jake crossed the lobby to the elevators, he caught sight of a young woman in a tailored blue suit, specifically her long shapely legs flashing from the slit in the center front of her long, straight skirt as she walked. He allowed his appreciative gaze to slide upward along the contour of her skirt, following the line of her tailored jacket in to her slender waist, then flaring out to her generous breasts.
Gorgeous. His gaze continued upward, past the soft drape of her shiny, dark brown hair at her shoulders to her face.
CHAPTER SEVEN
JAKE’S HEART COMPRESSED and he almost stumbled.
“Aurora.”
The woman’s gaze nicked toward him and she stopped, her eyes widening.
“What are you doing here?” she asked.
His heart stopped. Would she storm away in anger? He relaxed when a slow, sweet smile spread across her lips. She stepped toward him, closing the few yards between them, her smile glowing brightly. She leaned in close to him, resting her hand on his arm. Her delicate touch thrilled him. The scent of her hair and the heady heat of her body made him feel almost light-headed.
“You called me Aurora,” she murmured close to his ear.
“Does that mean what I think it does?” She raised her eyebrows. Of course he’d called her Aurora. What else should he call her? Had she wanted him to call her sweetheart or honey? He couldn’t very well call her sex kitten across a crowded lobby. Could he? With her and her fantasies, he couldn’t quite be sure. My God, she had a way of keeping him off balance. “Uh, what do you think it means?” he asked.
She glanced at his hand and her smile grew even broader as she tapped on the key card.
“Apparently, it means exactly what I think it means.” She curled her right arm through his elbow and turned toward the elevator. “Hot sex for Aurora and Jake tonight.” His penis jumped to attention at her words.
She hugged his arm tightly as they walked, her warm breast brushing enticingly against him.
“This is so sweet. I really needed this.”
She needed this. His heart soared, confident this meant he had a chance to convince her to start a relationship with him. He squeezed her arm. “I’m glad.”
He reached across in front of her and jabbed the elevator call button, praying. As he drew his arm back it brushed against the front of her breast. He could feel the nipple thrust forward as a low moan escaped her lips. He glanced at her face. Her eyes were half-closed and her cheeks stained crimson. She met his gaze and her eyes, dark and intense, oozed sexuality. Adrenaline
