The Perfect Mate
screamed, but I never made it there." He nuzzled my neck and nipped at my ear. "You make me lose control when I'm buried deep inside you," He said and bit my lip softly. "But I promise it's mine next time." He growled as desire filled my eyes.
He kissed me softly then pulled away. "I'm going to the bathroom. You rest up while I'm gone, cause you're gonna need it."
I groaned in anticipation. My body had never been so sated, yet I was ready for more, anytime he wanted. "Hurry back," I said as the bathroom door shut behind him. I stretched feeling sore in all the right places; smiling at the thought of what was coming next. Paul was an extraordinary lover and I trusted him completely.
Seeing movement out of the corner of my eye, I sat up looking around. The hairs on the back of my neck bristled and my wolf snarled. The room was empty and I didn't see anything, but the beautiful ocean through the windows of our bungalow, but I could smell them. Werewolves. I started to get up when the door burst open. Three men barged in guns out. I rolled off the bed landing on the floor by the wall just as the first bullet flew by. More followed. They shot everything in sight. The windows shattered sending glass and leaves from the potted trees spraying everywhere. A bullet flew by my head hitting the wall behind me. I ducked, heart pounding. I flatten myself to the floor when the bedside lamp shattered right beside me.
I looked around for a better hiding spot, but there was nowhere. The hotel's bungalow had a lot of wide open space with a small amount of furniture. I lifted the comforter and looked under the bed. There was just enough room for me to fit. I slid under the bed as quietly as possible, although I shouldn't have bothered. The noise in the room was deafening. Every once in awhile there would be a reprieve and I could hear the clicking of clips being loaded.
I jumped when sharp thumps sounded above me and I realized they were shooting the mattress. I had to do something. I was a sitting duck, but even if I crawled out and changed into my wolf form, there wasn't much I could do against three men with guns.
I thought of Paul just in the next room and I prayed he was okay. I hoped he'd stay there and not try anything brave. He wouldn't have a chance against all those bullets. I peeked out to see more. I was right. There were three of them and I immediately knew they must be Gray's guards. They were all dressed in the black guard uniform and decked out in weapons. The only difference was they all had on black ski mask over their faces. I guessed Gray didn't want anyone to recognize them.
One guy stood by the broken bedroom door and the other two were spread out only feet from the bed. I wondered sadly if I knew any of these men; grew up with them. Did they turn on the pack or were they being blackmailed? Or did Gray send some of his original guard, the ones he had before attacking my old pack? I guessed it didn't matter right at that moment. Whoever they were had come to kill us.
"AAAHH!" I froze in alarm when a man yelled out. The sound of a body slumping to the floor made me cover my mouth to hold back a scream. Oh God! I prayed. The gunfire continued, but it was directed away from the bed. What was going on? I panicked. Was Paul out there? Oh please don't let that have been Paul.

A wolf growled and I raised my head out of my hands. My eyes were blurry with unshed tears, but I had to see what was going on. "Shit!" One man cursed and I breathed out a sigh of relief to hear it wasn't Paul.
The gun fire had decreased some and I knew Paul was out there fighting for our lives. I had to get out there and help. Hiding was the best option at the time of the break in, but now Paul needed me. I slid out from underneath the bed on the side with the wall. Once out, I stayed crouched and changed into my wolf form. I felt my wolf's excitement and anticipation as my body transformed. She was ready
