laughing.
I giggle as I climb off him and help him up. “Sorry.”
He pats down his pants and then takes the ring from the box, grabbing my hand. “I didn’t expect such enthusiasm, but I’ll take it.”
With care, he slides the ring onto my finger. Looking at it makes me feel like I’m dreaming. I must be, right? I mean, Leo King just asked me to marry him for real. It’s like a fairy tale, only I’m not a princess in need of rescuing, and he’s not Prince Charming, although he is quite handsome. But who gives a shit, I’ll take him over any man I met before this day, even if he acts like a douchebag sometimes. He’s my douchebag.
    He smirks. “Like it?”
“Yes, I love it, but …” I hold up a finger. “You’d better keep your promise, Mister. Don’t ever lie to me again.”
He smiles. “I promise I won’t hurt you ever again. With Marilyn out of the way, there’s nothing stopping us from doing what we want, and what I want right now is to have and to hold you forever.”
He pulls me close and growls possessively, which creates goosebumps all over my body. Leaning in, he tentatively purses his lips, waiting for me to allow him to kiss me. However, he doesn’t need my permission. He can kiss me anytime, anywhere, no limits. No doubts. Nothing standing between us.
I feel the incredible urge to throw the bouquet of red roses into the air, but that would ruin them, so I opt to smash my lips into his instead. I can never have enough of his taste, his sweetness, his harshness, and all of it combined. Our kiss is an instant hit to my heart, which almost knocks out of my chest. I’m so happy right now; I could fly.
“So, you’re not changing your mind anymore, right?” he asks between kisses.
    “No. Never.”
“Are you absolutely sure? Because once you say yes, there’s no going back. This is it. I won’t let you go. Ever.”
I smile against his lips. “I already said yes. I’m yours, Leo.”
He smiles but then kisses me again, and I can’t resist the urge to kiss him back. Our lips entangle in a furious fight for love, and I wouldn’t have it any other way. I was already his a long time ago. From the moment I first stepped into his office to apply for a job to all the time I spent with him writing his statements and making calls for him. All the talks we had on the airplane and in our homes, and all those little moments between.
    I was always his.

    A few months later

The new assistant takes my coat without saying a word. She does give me a weird look, as if she’s scared because I’m her boss’ fiancée. She’s rather skittish, not at all like me, and I get the feeling she’s going to have a handful with Leo, not to mention the fact that she’ll probably be overwhelmed in a matter of days.
Oh well, I guess I’ll have to help smooth things out for him. After all, I am not just his fiancée, but also his trusted advisor when he’s at home with me and in need of guidance. Once an assistant, always an assistant. I might not be paid in money, but I get enough reward by having him in my bed every day.
Talking about reward … it’s time I delivered this new article I wrote and receive my payment.
As I walk toward his office, I get the sense not all of his staff are used to the idea of him and me being together. It’s like their eyes are burning a hole into my back. I try to ignore it for Leo; he told me not to pay any attention to the looks we’d get. He wants me confident and proud so that’s what I’m going to be. I love the way he looks at me as I knock on his door and he sees me. That sparkle in his eye … it’s like I make his day.
It makes me happy seeing it, although I always know why he’s so happy to see me. Now that I no longer work for him, we have all the freedom in the world to do what we want, when we want it. Including having sex all over the place. In his car, in the park at night, and even here in the office. I admit, we’re
