she felt good, even just holding her calmed my nerves.

She sighed, I felt the tension leave her muscles as she pulled away. “Nothing. It’s nothing.”

“Hey. You owe me answers.” I pointed out as I pulled on my jeans.

“One. I owe you one.” She ran her fingers through her hair, taking away the freshly fucked look that looked damn hot on her.

“Okay. One. What’s this hold Jayson has on you?”

“Ah. Well, how about I give you an answer that will actually benefit you instead?” She grabbed the hem of my shirt as I slid it over my head and pulled it down, smoothing it over my stomach. I raised an eyebrow, but nodded. I’d get my answer out of her soon enough. Whatever she had lurking in her mind, seemed to have some significance. “This little alliance you have with Jayson. Take it at face value. There’s nothing more to it.” She traced the letters on my cut, spelling out Reapers with her fingertip.

“I figured that already, babe.”  I put a hand over hers, stilling her.

“You have a run tomorrow?” She looked up at me, a softness filled her eyes. “Be careful. Watch your back.”  A warning?

                  “What’s he got planned?”

She gave a little laugh and pulled away.  “I’ve already said enough to get me killed. Just please, be careful.”  With that, she unlocked her door and pulled it open.

Not one to be dismissed, I was on her within two strides. I wrapped her hair in my hands and turned her to face me. Her lips were screwed up in a pretty pose of pain mixed with excitement.  I captured those lips, hard. Kissing her until I couldn't breathe anymore.  Neither could she from the look she gave me when I released her. “I’ll see you tomorrow.”

“I hope so.” I heard her say as I walked down the hall to get my guys and get the hell out of there.

The run went smoothly. Although, Jayson looked more irked when we all returned from the drop point, than he had when I showed up the night before.   Tick stuck close to his guys while we made the delivery, the harder they tried to shake him, the closer he got to them.  Lucy had been right, something was up with them.  I tried bringing her warning to the club, leaving her out of it, but without being able to put any reason behind my worry- I was told in no uncertain terms to drop it.

Everything began to feel warped and tainted. The club seemed hell bent on making this allegiance work, even when we knew the Disciples would never hold up their end.  We were to expect their betrayal and leap on it as soon as it happened to get their territory- but when I hand them a legitimate concern, it’s squashed.  Tick felt the same way, but his head was wound up in his woman.  I didn’t need that distraction.

Staying away from Lucy would be good for me, so I did. I stayed away for a week. When information needed to be relayed, I sent Tick or made a quick stop, when I figured she’d be out.  I did see her one morning as she made herself some coffee. I doubted she saw me; I high-tailed my ass out of there before she could.

I thought keeping her away from me would get her out of my head, but all it did was put her front and center of my mind. Wondering what she was doing all day. Was Jayson giving her a hard time? And what the fuck was she doing there anyway?

“Hey, brother.” Tick slapped me on my back, taking the stool next to me. “What’s wrong with you lately? All these beautiful women around, and you’re sulking at the bar.” He turned and faced the
