dragged him away from the boat and the prying eyes. His friends followed.
Once she had him out of earshot, she leaned close. âI wanted him to take me to where he hides the women.â
Duff shook his head. âWhat women?â
With a sigh, she stared into his eyes and dropped any hint of an English accent. âThe women whoâve disappeared from this area over the past few days. One of them was my younger sister. Melody.â
Duffâs eyes flared, his lips pressing into a thin line. âWhen?â
âTwo days ago. She disappeared on the same dive boat. Iâm betting in the same manner in which I would have disappeared if you hadnât been so heroic and saved me.â She squared her shoulders. âNow, if youâll let me by, I need to rent a boat.â
Duff shook his head, his body blocking her way. âWhy are you renting a boat?â
âI have to go back to see if I can find where my attacker surfaced.â
Again the big man shook his head. âYou canât. We were among huge rocks that protruded above the surface. A boat would be smashed against those rocks.â
âIf they got in there, I can get in there,â she returned.
âYouâre not going alone.â Duff glanced over his shoulder at his buddies. âRight?â
âWeâre with you,â Sawyer said.
âWhatever it is you have in mind,â Quentin agreed.
Montana nodded.
âI canât go boating with four big guys. I came here hoping to put myself up as a target for whoever is abducting women. If Iâm seen with four hulking men, theyâll look for easier prey.â Natalie snorted. âThen again, after Duff rescued me on the dive, my gig might be up anyway.â
Duff chuckled. âAnd here I thought I was helping. You really think weâre hulking?â
Natalia rolled her eyes. âThatâs all you got out of what I just told you?â
He held out his hand. âLet me make it up to you. Weâll go out on a boat to see if we can find the pickup point.â He gave his friends a look. âJust the two of us.â
âHey.â Sawyer frowned. âI was almost beginning to think this vacation was getting interesting.â
âYou three can split up and follow the crew members of the boat.â Duff gave them a stern look. âAnd donât make it obvious. And, for the love of Mike, donât beat the crap out of one of them for the information.â
Quentin shook his head. âYouâre taking the fun out of it, dude.â
Duff grabbed her hand. âCome on, weâll make this look like a date. Just me and you.â
Natalie wasnât sure she liked the idea of being alone with the man. âHow do I know youâre not involved in this abduction operation?â
Sawyer barked out a laugh. âDuff doesnât need to abduct women, they usually come to him willingly.â
Quentin added, âIn droves.â
Duff shrugged. âWe werenât here two days ago. You can check our flight records. We arrived yesterday.â
âAnd before that?â she asked.
He shook his head. âSorry, canât divulge that information. We were conducting black ops.â
Natalieâs belly tightened. âWhat do you mean? Secret operations?â
Sawyer leaned close. âWeâre Navy SEALs. Our missions are classified.â He winked.
Duff shoved him away from Natalie. âYou guys better go. Some of the crew members are leaving the boat now.â
Sawyer, Quentin and Montana spun and hurried away.
Natalie glanced up at Duff. âAnd Iâm supposed to feel safe with you just because you say youâre a Navy SEAL?â She tilted her head to the side, studying him. âYou could be feeding me a line.â
âTake it or leave it.â He held out his hand. âRight now we need to secure a boat and get back out to where we were diving. Something else that might be of
