have a man and he preferred never to indulge in that again, ever .
“No, I am counting on her to do just that.”
Interesting that there was a tug-of-war between the two for power. Sebastian suspected one of the two, most probably Gerard, was responsible for preparing Fallon for possession.
Carlo wasn’t a Master. Not yet.
Chapter 8
The first time Tonia saw a demon; she’d been about ten. Sitting in a booth in a restaurant, she’d turned to her mother and asked, “Why is that man blue?”
Her mother’s sudden pallor had scared her. "Remain quiet. Do not look at him."
Nervous that she’d said or done something wrong, she’d barely eaten. Through the meal, she’d kept glancing at the man, not able to stop herself.
After arriving home, her mother took her straight to her bedroom, sat her down and told her about demons. They were to be avoided at all costs and never ever should she let them discover she could see them. As Tonia grew older, she learned that both she and her mother, whose family originated from Ireland, were descendants of a group of people referred to as Seers, those who could see “Others.”
Demons being the main type of others she'd recognized over the years, Tonia knew there had to be more.
What about the Protectors, immortal demon slayers, who seemed to work for the greater good? Where did they fit?
Was she one of them now?
An Other?
She couldn’t sleep, didn’t want to rest, too many thoughts and questions tumbled through her mind. She’d promised Fallon she would remain in bed until he came for her but she couldn’t. Peeling back the bandages, she peered at her wound and was astounded to see it fully healed. Fallon’s blood no doubt the reason. Deciding she was well enough for a shower, she got out of bed and went into the luxurious bathroom.
The heat of the water from several showerheads washed over her, Tonia allowed the hot spray to clean away the hours of sleep and illness. She began washing her hair. With eyes closed she envisioned her last time with Fallon.
After he’d walked up while she fought a demon, they'd gone to her home. Anger vibrated from him at her ignoring his request not to fight alone.
Once at her home, he'd harnessed the energy from the anger and they’d barely made it inside her entryway before tearing at each other’s clothes.
Her body began to hum at the thought of what transpired next. Her mind flashing to the intimate knowledge of how he felt inside her, the sexy noises he made during lovemaking. She moaned and stuck her face into one of the streams of heated water.
When the shower door opened, she didn't have to look to know who stood there.
"I'd like some privacy." Her tone was not convincing. "Go away Fallon." When she faced him, her bravado left.
Fallon stood outside the shower, a worried expression on his face. “I came to check on you. I heard you moan. Thought you'd hurt yourself.”
Perfect . "I'm fine."
Heated eyes met hers. "I will speak to you when you finish then."
"Wait." Aware the inevitable would happen if she went to him, Tonia neared him and lifted her face to him. "I do need you."
Placing her arms around his neck, she lowered his mouth to hers. “I need you so much right now.”
Needing no other invitation, he wrapped his arms around her, not seeming to notice his clothing getting completely soaked. The cool air made her shiver and he pushed her back under the water stream. Not tearing his eyes from hers, he removed his clothes with hurried moves, letting them fall at his feet.
Finally bereft of clothes, his erection jutting before him, he stepped into the enclosure, his large body filling the space. His stunning eyes darkened just before his mouth took hers with a surprising intensity. Strong hands cupped her bottom and pulled her off the floor, his hips pushed forward rubbing his hardness at her core.
The need to touch as much of the glorious physique as she could overrode her senses and she slid her
