Savage Sacrifice: Savage Angels MC #5
floor up. I’m studying her face and can tell she’s anxious from the frown that is creasing her forehead. Normally Kat makes small talk but not today. She even appears to be avoiding all eye contact with me.
We enter her room and I notice it’s bigger than Judge and Jasmin’s, I walk up to the enormous windows and look out at the city. Kat comes up beside me and hands me a drink. I take a sniff and smell the familiar scent of whiskey.
“You going to tell me why you’re here?” asks Kat staring straight ahead.
    “You fucking Will Van Ryken?”
Her head snaps quickly in my direction, anger distorts her features. “I. Beg. Your. Pardon?”
I’ve known Kat for a long time. This is something I didn’t expect, typically she explodes, but this cold, calculating, contained anger isn’t like her.
    “I said are you fucking–“
“I heard what you said,” she responds through gritted teeth.
“Kat, there are pictures of you all over the internet with this guy, and today, with my own eyes, I saw you walk through the lobby downstairs, holding hands.”
Her lips are pursed together, and she’s nodding her head. “So, of course, I’m fucking him! Did Dane send you? You want to hit me too?”
“Whoa! We both know Dane didn’t mean to hit you, and he’s tearing himself up over it. What is he supposed to think? What am I supposed to think?”
She holds up her hand with her wedding ring on it. “I took a vow! How can you even ask me that?”
“You’re just like your mother! You haven’t answered the question. Tell me, Kat, are you as secretive as she was?”
Shock goes across her features, and she takes a step back from me. “What is that supposed to mean?”
Fuck . She doesn’t know anything about her mother. Dane has kept it from her as has her manager Dave. I look back out the window and sip my whiskey.
    “Dirt?”
I look back at her. “This shit with you and Dane has gone on long enough. If you want to fix your marriage, I suggest you fucking act like it. You’re making Dane look weak, and he’s talking about leaving the MC for you ,” I sound disgusted as I say the last word. I can’t even look at her.
“Leave the MC? He can’t do that,” Kat whispers.
“No, he can’t, we need him.”
“What did you mean about my mother?”
I grunt, turn and place my glass on the coffee table as I head for the door. “Not my place to tell you. I shouldn’t have fucking said anything. Fix this rift between you and Dane before it gets so bad that you can’t.” I open the door and look back at her. “We all miss you. But I’ll be fucked if I’m losing Dane over this. You fix this, Kat.”
Before she can respond, I walk out into the hallway and close the door. Standing outside is Veronica, one of Dave’s personal assistants.
“Dirt? What are you doing here?” she asks.
“Trying to fix the problem between Kat and Dane,” I reply honestly.
Her pretty face screws up, and she says, “Something I should know?”
“I’m sure you know more than I do Veronica.”
A small smile plays on her lips. “Maybe.” I nod at her and start to walk toward the elevators. “Dirt?” I stop and turn back to her. “Not everything is as it appears. Kat is trying hard to keep this tour on track and keep everyone happy. Will isn’t half the man Dane is, and I think she knows that.”
“Maybe you could remind her?” I say as I continue toward the elevators.

Chapter 13
Dane
I walk for an hour before I try to hail a cab to bring me back to the hotel, or should I say stood in the middle of the street to stop one. The cab drivers were reluctant to stop for the six foot six man in jeans and leather jacket with patches. The cabbie wasn’t talkative and was shocked when I tipped him. Hopefully, it will teach him not to judge a book by its cover.
I walk up to the reception desk in the lobby and speak to the woman behind the desk. “Could you please phone Kat Saunders room?”
She looks up at me and does a
