with interest. “I wanna know who you cheated with. They gotta go, Raven, if you want to work this out with Morgana.”
“Most moved on. None of ‘em meant a thing. Look, all I ever got was a blow job, True. I never put a bitch on the back of my bike. Don’t tell me you didn’t do the same to Marianne. Isn’t that why she left you?”
True looked pissed. “Yeah, well, I never made Marianne my ol’ lady, did I? Sure, I lived with her, but as soon as I went to jail, she booked and I never heard a word from her. I left thinking she was gonna stay at the farm. I never had any feelings for her like you had for my sister.”
Whistler looked uncomfortable and got up for fresh bottles of beer.
Raven went in for the kill. “You ought to ask your brother where she is. He knows, and I’m betting he won’t say a word to you. If you don’t care about her, tell him so.”
True looked stunned. “Whistler and Marianne, no shit? He into her?” He rubbed his chin in thought.
“Ask him. I ain’t saying because it’s his business. Hazel and Marianne are sisters. They’re tight, but not a couple like people assume. Jinx kept hitting on Hazel, so Whistler makes like he’s with her. You aren’t really putting me back in that cell, are you?” he asked, dead serious. “I’m useless down there and you need me, True. Face it. Morgana and I still can make our marriage work. Plus, this shit with the Fiends. We got a leak.”
Whistler slammed the bottles on the table. “You always gotta talk shit about what you don’t know, huh, Raven? True, when you went to jail, you left a mess with Marianne, but that ain’t the problem we’re facing now. You and me, we’ll talk about her after we fix the shit we’ve got going on now.” He looked at Raven as if to dare him to talk more.
Raven met his stare and nodded; he wouldn’t say another thing about Marianne. “I can’t get through to Morgana locked up. I need to make her understand that I want this baby and I fucked up … but I know what I’m losing. It was like things went stale. We weren’t on the same page and she works all kinds of crazy shifts. I thought she didn’t care, either. After you went to jail, True, I think she closed up more to me.” The sounds of a loud bike approaching filled the air. “Your bikes are in the garage?”
True walked over to the window. “Yeah. What the fuck is Jinx doing here?”
Whistler grabbed Raven and pushed him toward the bedroom. “We’ll let True handle this. Raven, I swear to God I’ll knock your ass out. Something doesn’t seem right with Jinx. You’re supposed to be on the road and need to be outta sight. True, see what the fuck he wants.” He pushed a furious Raven into the bedroom where they glared at each other.
The doorbell rang and True opened it to let Jinx inside. Jinx seemed surprised to see Morgana’s oldest brother staring at him.
“There a reason you’re paying my sister a call, Jinx?” He didn’t trust the brother who stood in front of him too much. He hadn’t been in Satan’s Fools MC for more than a few years.
“True. Just the man I wanna see. Is Morgana here?” Jinx sounded awfully cocky.
“Nope, I’m staying here with her, so state your business with my brother-in-law’s wife. You’re treading on thin ice here. Raven doesn’t like Morgana bothered or you having any interest in his wife.”
True’s steel grey eyes bored a hole into Jinx. In the other room, Whistler kept a tight grip on Raven as they listened.
Of course, Jinx was too full of himself to have heard the warning in True’s voice. “Raven doesn’t give a shit about her. I told her I’d ask you if I could take her out to dinner. I think we need to seriously think of outing Raven, too. I don’t trust him anymore. He doesn’t seem to think beyond his cock, and to disrespect the sister of the president and VP? Why would he go nomad now? You just got outta jail and he left? I think his patch needs to be pulled, frankly.
