when I don’t know where he’s taking me?”
    “Text him and ask him.”
When I turn on my phone, I notice I already have a text from him.

Carter: Good morning! Hope you slept well.

Patty: I slept a little too well, just woke up about fifteen minutes ago. How about you?

Carter: I got up around eight to work out.

Patty: You work out on Sundays?

Carter: It depends on my mood and I was trying to occupy my mind because I kept thinking about someone.

Oh my God. “Look what he just wrote.”
I show Bella the text and she squeals. “That’s awesome,” she says, excited for me.

    Patty: *blushing*

Carter: I bet, you’re cute when you’re blushing.

Patty: Are you trying to make it worse on purpose? Where are we going for dinner tomorrow? I need to know how to dress.

Carter: Lol, No I’m not and dress comfortable. Like you did at the lake house ;-)

Patty: Ugh! I got to go. I’ll talk to you later.

Cater: Yes you will. Have a good day!

    Patty: You too!

When I look up from my phone Bella is leaning against my bureau with her arms crossed, tapping her foot, like I’ve done something wrong.
    “What?”
“Girl you’re redder than a beet, what was all of that?” I laugh and give her my phone so she can read the conversation. Between the two of us, we decide on a pair of jeggings with a cute sweater and a pair of Uggs.
Once we’re done picking my clothes, Bella says, “Go take a shower and let’s go to lunch.”

    ***

It’s Monday morning and I’m lying in bed exhausted because I barely slept a wink last night. All I kept thinking about was my date with Carter tonight. He looked so hot the other night in his tux. I kept dreaming about him stripping it off painstakingly slowly. I wanted him to rip it off and he wouldn’t. When he was finally done he climbed over me like I was his prey and that’s when I woke up soaked with my want for him.
    Fuck this.
I reach over into my nightstand and grab my bullet. I turn it on and rub it gently over my clit thinking of Carter. I’m imagining his large hands rubbing all over my body and his full, luscious lips kissing my neck and collarbone. It’s been so long since anyone has touched me that I’m coming in a matter of minutes. My legs shaking, I ride it out with my bullet pressed between my legs.
I groan in frustration. It’s only helped a little, and I still have to manage to get some work done before we go out tonight.
    I send him a text.

Patty: Good luck on your first day!

Carter: Thanks! Hope you have a good day too!

Patty: Thanks! I can’t wait to see you tonight.

    Carter: Me too ;-)

I jump out of bed and hit the shower so I can go about my day. When I’m done, I make a cup of coffee and boot up my laptop to see what’s going on in the social media world. I Google my name to see if there are pictures posted from the event Saturday since my agent loves seeing me out in public. I find pictures of me with Bella getting out of the limo and posing on the red carpet. Captioned under a nice pic of me and Bella is:

Author P. A. Fitzgerald with model friend Bella Campbell at a fundraiser Saturday night .

I print that one out. I have a best friend’s frame that I switch the picture out on once in a while and that’s a nice one. I continue scrolling through the pictures when I come across a picture of me and Carter and I’m mesmerized. The caption reads:

Author P. A. Fitzgerald leaves event with mystery man, believed to be the son of Mr. Montgomery, local bank owner.

I’m all smiles because we’re looking at each other and smiling like we’ve known each other for years and yet we only just met. My phone rings, startling me from my thoughts, I look at my phone and roll my eyes.
    “Good morning, Mother.”
“Patricia, darling, how could you take off on Ben like that Saturday night? There are pictures of you and that boy all over social media and people
