Those men donât live around here.â
âWhat, no old high school sweetheart?â
âGirlfriend, been there, done that, got two kids to show for it. I havenât seen my ex-husband in over two years. He moved to California without looking back.â
âMen can be dogs,â Tayler blurted out.
âYou can say that again,â Corra added. âExcept for my brother, whoâs the sweetest guy I know. There need to be more men like him in this town.â
âI gather heâs a hot commodity?â
Corra smirked. âThe women in this town have been on him like white on rice. Thankfully, heâs more focused on the family business than some of these scallywags.â
âHe doesnât have a girlfriend?â Tayler asked.
âNope. He dated a woman over in Bullet County for a while, but that didnât last.â
âDo you ever work at the farm?â
âMe, naw. Iâve helped out from time to time when theyâre in a pinch, but Rollin handles everything. He has a business degree from Morehouse College in Atlanta. Although this isnât what heâd planned to do with it.â
Arriving at her house, Corra backed into the driveway and popped the trunk. âLetâs pile everything in the basement.â
Tayler grabbed a large gift basket and followed Corra inside the house. The split-level country-style home was nicely decorated and reminded Tayler of her room at the B and B.
Tayler could hear the children and noise from a television as she followed Corra downstairs. At the bottom of the stairs she walked into a large den, and who was sitting in front of the television with the children but Rollin. She hadnât seen his truck outside. He did a double take after he noticed her.
âScore!â Jamie yelled.
Rollin turned back to the screen. âDude, you beat me again.â
Jamie danced around the den. âI always do, Uncle Rollin.â
âThat you do.â Rollin set the controller down. âLetâs take a break, little buddy, and see if your mother needs any help.â
Before Tayler could make it across the room, Rollin reached out for the gift basket. âIâm surprised to see you here,â he said.
âImagine my surprise,â Tayler said, with a stiff smile.
Rollin and Jamie volunteered to go get everything else, while Tayler found a nice comfortable spot at the end of the sofa, where Corraâs daughter, Katie, kept her company.
Minutes later, everyone was in the den when Corra announced, âOkay, guys, Iâve got the game plan for tomorrow. Weâre pairing up in twos again because itâs more effective that way. Iâm going to hit the local hospital with Sharon. And Iâve got you twoââ she pointed from Rollin to Tayler ââdown for the strip mall out on Bicknell Road.â
Taylerâs jaw dropped before she turned to Rollin.
Chapter 8
T ayler stood up so fast, she almost knocked little Katie down. âUh, Corra, I donât know about tomorrow.â
Rollin came to Taylerâs rescue, knowing how his sister had a habit of manipulating people into doing anything she wanted. âYeah, Corra, the marketâs all day Saturday, and after that Iââ
âOh, come on, Rollin, you know Kevin can run that stand on Saturday. This is for the kids, man, your niece and nephew. Donât you want them to have computers, too?â she pleaded.
âThey have one up in their room. I brought it last Christmas.â
Corra stomped her foot. âIâm talkinâ âbout at school. They need computers in the classroom. The effort we put in now will pay off big in the long run.â
Rollin looked at Tayler to gauge her reaction to Corraâs ranting. He was used to her but didnât want Tayler to feel put upon. âIâm sure Tayler has other plans for tomorrow.â
âYes, I want to check out an antique shop I saw
