emotion he wrought from her.
Her eyes fluttered shut. Her orgasm crashed over her, taking her by surprise. It was like being hit by a tidal wave, the force of it damn near painful as it washed over and through her.
She screamed, a fierce sound that shook her to the core.
David was barely a second behind her. His thrusts were hard now, bruisingly so. He plumbed her depths, his limbs shaking as his cock spurted, ejaculating his seed and filling her ravished hole.
He roared, his masculine shout echoing with hers, reverberating around the room until she felt the walls should be shaking from the noise.
Chelsea could feel the warmth seeping out of her arse and down her leg, but she couldn’t have cared less. Aftershocks sang through her body, twitching her muscles as exhaustion washed over her. She collapsed forward onto her belly, the mattress taking the brunt of her fall. Still locked inside her, David moved down with her, the warmth of his body protecting her from the chill in the room.
She could smell the pleasant scent of their mingled essences. Salty, musky, floral—they melded together to an indefinable smell she recognised as them .
David wrapped his arms around her waist, drawing them together until they spooned on the mattress, her back pressed to his chest, his dick still inside her butt. Chelsea wriggled to fit herself closer to his warm frame, never wanting him to leave her, hoping they could stay like this forever.
Nothing would ever be the same again. She knew it now, embraced it.
David lifted a hand and stroked her hair, the gesture infinitely tender. She smiled.
“I love you,” she said softly.
She hoped he wouldn’t be surprised or upset at her words. She knew they loved one another, had known it for a while now. Knowing it on an intellectual level, however, was different to expressing the words so finitely aloud. There could be no questions or hesitation, no dissembling from this point in. For, once stated, they couldn’t be retracted. More than that, they were so entwined now, their hearts and souls so knitted together, that it would be devastating to her should they split apart.
    “I love you too.”
He kissed the nape of her neck. She shivered and turned her head to stare at him.
“I love that lilt in your tone you get when you’re tender with me,” she confessed. “I can hear it sometimes, like a siren call from home. When you said that, those four words, it’s like a lure to me, drawing me ever closer to you.”
“I’ll keep that in mind,” he replied with a grin, the tone still present. She chuckled and turned her head back, snuggling into his embrace.
“Be careful you use it for good,” she teased. “I’d be tempted to do anything for you when you use that tone. ‘Tis a terrible weapon you have there.”
Only as the words echoed in the room did she realise the double meaning he could read into it. She laughed, knowing she didn’t need to explain or speak further. His dark chuckle proved he knew exactly what she had meant—and unconsciously implied.
Her heart overflowed with love for this complex, marvellous man whom she adored.

Chapter Five

David’s world had been completely shattered. He knew now, without any question, that he could not survive without this amazing woman. The way she’d surrendered herself to him, urged him to give the same to her… Words failed him.
They lay cupped together, relaxed and as comfortable as if they’d been lovers for decades. He wanted to close his eyes and ignore the world, shut it out entirely and relish getting to know every inch of Chelsea’s skin, in learning what made her sigh and scream, writhe and plead for mercy.
Sadly, his duty weighed on his conscience. They had a job to do. If she decided to step away he would urge her to leave for Dublin the moment she could finish packing, but he could not do so—wouldn’t leave his work unfinished, these criminals out to harm other innocent people.
