There was something different about Natalia. She was special. I rolled over to try to wake her, but I found myself alone. At some point in the night, she had left. Part of me wondered if she had used me in the same way I’ve used women in the past.

The prior evening had been a giant wave of highs and lows. I was exhausted. Not just physically, but emotionally as well. I didn’t want to get out of bed. It had been a late night and I was so tired. At the same time, I was glad that Natalia and I had the chance to spend the evening together and made love.

Thinking about everything that had happened, my mind went to the man in the alley. Why in the world was he working with Anna and what in the hell did she want? She always threatened that she would ruin me, but I assumed it was just the talk of a bitter woman. I had no clue she would take things this far and I was worried about how much further she was willing to go.

If things were to progress between Natalia and me, I knew that I was going to have to fill her in on everything that was happening. I would have to tell her all about Anna and the past that the two of us have together. I worried that if she knew my story, she would run away as fast as she could. I wouldn’t blame her if she did. The things I had to tell her would be a bombshell in any relationship.

As I got dressed for the day, I started thinking about how Natalia pressed me about Anna. The only thing I could do was divert the conversation and hope she would give up. I couldn’t stop thinking about how I told her that what we had done in the club didn’t mean anything and that we were basically acting. The look on her face told me that my words had cut her deep. I felt like I needed to find her and let her know that what happened did, in fact, mean something. What did it mean exactly? I wasn’t sure. These types of feelings were almost foreign to me. I just know that there’s something there and I had to know what it was.

Once my suit was on and my hair was combed, I went downstairs to look for Natalia. She had many duties as the head housekeeper so she didn’t stay in one area like the rest of my employees did. When I ran into her, she was standing in the kitchen with Lupita. There were a lot of things I wanted to say to her but keeping our encounter discreet was more important.

Since I wasn’t able to talk to Natalia like I wanted to, I simply said good morning to both of them before making myself a cup of coffee. While adding my cream and sugar into the cup, I glanced over in their direction at the same time that Natalia was glancing over at me. Neither of us said a word. Instead, she flashed a knowing grin at me and I returned it with a wink. There would be plenty of time to talk to Natalia later. The fact that she flashed that sexy smile in my direction was a good indication that she was thinking the same thing I was.

Since she was busy doing her job, I decided the best thing for me to do was to get to work as well. I had an important meeting coming up about acquiring a large Japanese technology company, which would bring a lot of new international business my way. The meeting was set up at the last minute so I had a lot of work to do in order to be ready for it. Specifically, that meant I had to do a lot of research on the company to see what their profits and losses have looked like over the past several years. The research was arduous work that I usually relegated to someone else on my staff, but this was too important and time-sensitive. I was going to have to sit down and do the research myself.

I had only been in my office for a few minutes before the phone started to ring. Much to my surprise, the intercom beeped and Bailey alerted me that my mother was on the phone.

    “Hello?” I answered the phone.

“Hello Kaiden, what are you doing tonight?”

“I’m just going over some research for an acquisition I’m making. Why? What’s going
