to meet you,â he said.
âSame here. I saw your grandparents a lot just before they died.â
âActually,â Noelle said, âIâm opening the summer camp again. Iâve moved into my grandparentsâ house and Iâll be getting the camp in shape over the next few months.â
âArenât you lucky! Iâm sharing a three-bedroom house with two other women. Real estate here is expensive. Iâm saving up for a place of my own. So when are you opening the camp?â
âThis summer,â Noelle said. âIt will focus on computer and investment skills.â
âWow! You need to start advertising. I have nephews and nieces my sisters want to get rid of for a few weeks.â
Noelle laughed. âI hope our parents didnât feel that way about us.â
âIâm teasing. I dote on them. But my sisters and brothers attended that camp, too. It was such a good experience that Iâm sure they would want their children to have it, as well.â
âI should have brochures ready by the middle of next month,â Noelle assured her.
âIn the meantime, Iâll let them know. We have to get together soon.â She dug in her purse and gave Noelle a card. âMy address and phone numbers.â
âHereâs my cell number. They havenât hooked up the landline yet.â Noelle tore a piece of paper from a pad in her purse.
âI have to get back to work,â Casey said. âMy boss is nice, but heâs strict about lunch hours. Nice meeting you, Gregory.â
âSame here.â He watched her until she went out the door.
âSit down and finish your food, brother.â
âSheâs a babe. And the way those jeans fit herâ¦But I guess sheâs as old as you.â
âSheâs a year or two younger,â Noelle said.
âOh. Iâm just a couple of years younger than you.â
âYouâre a kid in comparison.â
âI think I like older women.â
Noelle rolled her eyes heavenward. âGive me a break,â she said, just before she saw Colin strolling toward her.
âHi. Thought I saw your car out there.â He bent and kissed her. His lips were cold.
âWhatâre you doing in town?â
âOn my way from the training track,â he said, pulling out the chair beside her and sitting down. They were so close his arm brushed hers, sending sparks of awareness through her. âWas that Casey I saw leaving?â He took a sip of her hot chocolate.
âYes. We went to camp together.â Suddenly the food churned in Noelleâs stomach and she lost her appetite. Had Colin and Casey dated?
She had no time to ponder that because Colin asked, âSo what did yâall get done this morning?â
âJust the living and dining rooms. Weâll get to the kitchen this afternoon.â
âComing right along,â he said.
She nodded. âI need to start looking for someone to make repairs on the campground. I havenât had the time to go there yet.â
âGeorge recommended Carp. But I have to tell you up front that heâs been having some problems since his wife left him. Hasnât been too reliable. But he needs someone to give him a chance. Heâll work cheaper than the regular construction firms if youâll give him a chance to prove himself. If youâre afraid of taking a chance, heâll recommend someone else.â
âDoes he do good work?â
âGreat work. A regular contractor would cost you a fortune, but the work wonât be any better. Heâs done a lot of work for us at the farm.â
âIâll try him.â
âGood. Iâll bring him by tomorrow. Unfortunately, I have to go now.â He stood, then leaned down to kiss her.
Noelle felt her body heat up, burning to ashes whatever anxiety sheâd had. She watched him until he left the building.
âEarth to Noelle.â Greg shook
