that day hadn’t come.

    I
took a deep breath and headed straight for the nearest casino. The lights
flashed as I stepped inside, practically blinding me. Boy oh boy I could tell
this was nothing like the casinos we had back home.

    Loud
rap music blared from the speakers. Half naked people walked around serving
drinks and dancing. God damn was this a club or a casino? I looked around and
spotted the blackjack table near the back. Perfect.

    It
only took ten minutes before the chips started to pile up. Before I knew it,
I’d won about five grand in chips. Five grand my first time in my first casino
in Vegas? Holy shit I was beyond excited. I noticed the dealer looking at me
suspiciously, but I didn’t care. You know that high they say people get from
winning at poker? Multiply that feeling by about a hundred and that’s where I
was at.

    I
was all smiles as I collected my winnings, thinking about how I’d enjoy a nice
relaxing month. Maybe I’d take myself out to a nice dinner or a movie or
something. I sighed as I turned away from the chip booth. If only there was
someone to enjoy my money with.

    As
happy as I was when I won though, I considered gambling to be more work than fun
and I never understood people that had an addiction to this kind of thing. The
high lasted only a few minutes but after that, it kind of dissipates. It would
be a lot more fun if I made money with someone else in mind.

    But
it is what it is I guess. I would have to treat myself tonight. I pocketed my
money carefully and moved right to the exit, already thinking about that
awesome bar I’d seen next to my hotel room. I was so lost in my thoughts I didn’t
even notice the tall guy in front of me until I walked right into him.

    “Sorry,
I-”

    When
my hand touched his body, I looked up involuntarily. Boy was I glad I did.

    He
was smiling down at me with a perfect, white smile, dimples and all. His eyes
were deep, dark brown, perfect for getting lost in. He had a gorgeous, shaven
face with a cowboy hat covering his short brown hair. And best of all were his
muscles. My hand had found itself planted on a perfectly ripped torso I could
feel even underneath his shirt. I was sure if he took it off his body would
probably make my faint it’d be so perfect.

    “E-excuse
me,” I mumbled trying to get around him.

    He
put a large, warm hand on my trembling shoulder.

    “I’ve
been watching you play all night. It looks like you really know how to play
poker. What’s your secret? Do you count cards? I promise I won’t tell anyone,”
he said, flashing me another blinding smile. He had a smooth, sultry,
stereotypical southern accent. Holy fuck I was in love.

    “N-no,
just lucky I guess,” I responded nervously, distracted by his gorgeous face.
Already I could find myself getting lost in those dark, mysterious, warm eyes.

    “Well
you certainly seem to get very lucky. I’ve never seen anyone win that many
chips that fast, and I’ve been around these parts a long time.”

    “Well
like you said, I know how to play the game,” I responded a little defensively.

    “Can
I buy you a drink?” he asked casually.

    I
had nowhere to be, but I wasn’t sure about this man quite yet, other than that
he was absolutely stunning and he looked really familiar. But I didn’t
like how he kept asking my questions about my game. I had heard stories about
people getting taken to underground dungeons and beaten until they confessed to
cheating at card games. I really, really wanted to avoid having that happen to
me tonight.

    “Why
do you want to buy me a drink?”

    He
shrugged.

    “Because
I think you’re really gorgeous, and I’d like to buy you a drink.”

    His
compliment took me aback. No one had ever been that direct to me before. This
man simply oozed confidence. I knew if I wasn’t careful, I was going to
start falling for this guy faster than I could think.

    He
smiled and
