Lucas.  The doctor checked you out, right?”

“Yep.  He said an ice bath and some rest and I should be good as new tomorrow.”

“Okay, well I don’t want to hold you up so I better get going.  Do what you need to do, soak in your ice bath and I’ll see you tomorrow.”

“Okay.  I will swing by your room, I mean come across the hall,” I gave her a quick wink and a smile, “around 5:00 and we can grab an early dinner, if that’s okay.”

    “Yeah, that sounds great.”

“Okay good, because after dinner I would love to go for a walk with you on the beach our last night here.”

She gave me a huge grin and, man, the way she looked at me made me feel like a million bucks.

“Sounds perfect.”  She rested her hand on my shoulders and gave me a gentle peck on the lips.  “I’ll see you tomorrow.”

When the door closed behind her I ran my hands through my hair and let out a deep sigh.  Five o’clock the next day could not come fast enough.

Chapter Seventeen - Kinsley

I don’t think I had ever been more nervous and excited at the same time for a date in my life.  I must have checked myself in the mirror 50 times before I felt I looked perfect.  I finally decided on a strapless black dress and strappy black heels and decided to flat iron my hair straight.

Sophie peeked her head in the bathroom as I rubbed a little bit of anti-frizz serum through my hair.

“Kinsley, you look gorgeous!  Lucas is not going to be able to keep his hands off of you!”

I gave her a sly grin.  “I hope not!”

Her eyes got as big as saucers.  “I want ALL of the details tomorrow, I mean it!”

I furrowed my brows in confusion.  “Tomorrow?  What makes you think I won’t be home tonight?”

She gave me a wicked grin.  “ I won’t be home tonight!”

“Oh, hot date with Paul, huh?”

“Yep, I am so bummed that I have to leave him tomorrow.  I never thought I would actually fall for someone here.  My whole thing was to come here, get laid, and go home a happy camper.  Now I really like the guy.”

She looked sad and I felt bad for her.

    “”Where is he from again?”

“Some small town in Massachusetts.  I’m sure I’ll never see him again.”

“You don’t know that, Sophie.  Why don’t you just focus on enjoying your last night with him and just see where things go after we leave.  You never know what could happen.”

She brightened up a little bit.  “You’re right, maybe he’ll come see me in Chicago.”

“Well there are these things called airplanes so I’m sure you can work something out.  Don’t get too far ahead of yourself, though.  Just live in the moment.”

“You’re right.  Well I better hop in the shower.  He’ll be here in an hour and I still have no idea what I am going to wear.  Have fun tonight!”

I giggled as I walked out of the bathroom and she went in.  “You too!”

Five minutes later there was a knock at our door and I was a nervous Nelly.  I grabbed my purse, checked my look one last time in the hall mirror and opened the door to male perfection.  Lucas was so fucking beautiful.  His pearly whites were on full display for me.

“Hi, gorgeous,” his velvety deep voice floated into my room.  I wanted to melt right there.

“Hi, handsome.”  I couldn’t stop smiling at him.

“You look stunning, Kinsley.  I like your hair like that.”

“Thank you.  You look nice, too.”  He did.  He looked amazing, and I really wanted to pinch myself to make sure it was all really happening.

“I was able to get reservations for us at 5:30 so we better get going.”

The restaurant was a short cab ride away and once we were seated Lucas reached across the table and grabbed my hand, gently rubbing it with his thumb.

“Did you have a good day?”

“Yeah, Sophie and I laid out this morning and then we packed
