him after our stomachs were full and the conversation had finally tapered off.
“No, can’t say that I have been. Like I said earlier, I’ve only been in the District for about a year.”
“Well, that’s where the view is truly beautiful. I know a little private spot on the beach that is practically always deserted. Want to go check it out?”
He shook his head. “I don’t think I should drive that far. I’m kind of tipsy.”
“Me, too, but not too tipsy to drive. I can take us if you don’t mind me driving your car.”
    “I don’t mind at all.”
Forty-five minutes later we were parked on the sand. The sun was setting over the bridge, and the view was spectacular. Black laid the blanket out, and we sat side by side.
“This is beautiful,” he said to me.
    “I told you so.”
Black caught me off guard by kissing me. I knew it was coming at some point, at least I hoped that it would, but I wasn’t quite prepared for it to happen so suddenly.
He was a good kisser, which is always helpful. If a brotha can’t kiss, I’m not trying to kiss him, period. I dated one man for two years and never kissed him after the first time. He was a decent lover, but I simply couldn’t force myself to go there as far as kissing.
Black’s kisses were so arousing that I could feel my panties getting damp. Black reached over and fondled my breasts through the sheer fabric of my cotton sundress. Our kiss grew in intensity, and I pushed him on his back and climbed on top of him. All that shit I said the night before about not giving up the drawers fast evaporated. I wanted him, and I wanted him right that second.
I pulled my dress over my head and unhooked my bra, lowering it off my shoulders and exposing my breasts. I took a quick look around to make sure no one had snuck up on us. The coast appeared to be clear. I stood up just long enough to take off my panties. Black used that opportunity to get undressed as well.
We were naked on the blanket, just staring in each other’s eyes.
“Are you okay with this, Tenage?”
“I’m more than okay.” I kissed his chest and then bit gently on one of his nipples. “I don’t know what it is about you, but today has been a wonderful day, and I don’t want it to end without exploring all other possibilities.”
“So you think this thing with us can go somewhere?”
“Where would you like it to go, Black?” I asked him.
“I’m looking for the real thing. I’m looking for love. I’m not trying to play silly games. I was raised to believe that every good man needs a good woman behind him. He needs a good wife, and that’s what I’m searching for.”
I buried my head in his chest and laughed.
He lifted my head up and looked at me. “What’s so funny?”
“Nothing. I’m just trying to imagine me as anyone’s wife. I’ve never considered myself marriage material, and the fact that we’re sitting here talking about this less than twenty-four hours after we met is crazy.”
He flashed that pretty-ass smile at me. “Life is crazy.”
    “True.”
    “So what do you think?”
“What do I think? I mean, you’re not proposing or anything now, so I guess we’ll just see what’s what.”
Black ran his fingers through my hair. “What if I am proposing now?”
Let’s just say that I sobered up real quick! “Black, we just met.”
“So? I know what I want, and I wanted to ask you before we had sex because I don’t even want you to think it’s about that. From the second I saw you sitting at that bar, I knew you were the one.”
He was dead serious. I was shocked. I sat up straight and looked down at him. He was incredibly fine and seemed nice enough, but marriage?
“How could you know I was the one that fast?” I asked. “How can you even know I’m the one now?”
He shrugged his shoulders. “I just know these things. When I was a little boy, I used to dream about the type of woman I would marry. I could see her so clearly, and guess what? She
