it.
â€œIt’s nothing like that. Just having a good time, like you guys,” Kirk said.
The other zombie added his two cents in while rubbing his hands together. “I bet.”
The first zombie’s eyes widened. “Yo, we are headed to this party on the eighth floor. They would fucking flip out if they saw you there, man.”
Nia watched as Kirk handled himself like a true man. It wasn’t doing anything to prevent her from wanting him more. He smiled, flashing his pearly whites, which she’d grown to love on the TV show.
â€œSounds fun, but I have a big day tomorrow, and I’m just gonna make sure my friend here gets to her room all right, and I’m headed back to my hotel. But, hey, thanks for the invite—”
â€œOh, we can make sure she gets to her room all right, if you want us to,” said the first zombie as he gave Nia a menacing glare, which instantly made her uncomfortable. “Come on. Just stop by the party.”
â€œThanks, but no thanks.” Kirk turned around to face Nia.
â€œFuck you, then, asshole!” the first zombie yelled, and then both zombies started cursing Kirk out.
â€œHe’s too good for us,” said the second zombie.
â€œFucking asshole, you suck as an actor, anyway,” the first zombie muttered.
    Kirk sighed.
â€œHey, um, how about you just go? I’ll get to my room okay,” Nia said. She could see the frustration growing on Kirk’s face. After all, she knew his expressions very well from the show.
â€œNo, I’m okay.” Kirk rubbed her hand. “Just ignore it.”
â€œDon’t fucking ignore us, bro,” the first zombie said.
Nia looked around. Luckily, few people were paying attention to them.
The second zombie added, “I guess he’s too busy trying to get some pussy from that whore—”
Kirk’s fist met his face, instantaneously knocking the drunken zombie out with one punch. The fall caused the people milling about to finally turn around to see what was going on. Nia grabbed Kirk and pulled him away from the scene before camera phones started to come out.
Moments later they made it to the hotel room and fire escape staircase. It was the only completely empty place in the whole hotel. Kirk shook his head and laughed.
â€œI’m sorry you had to witness that.” He held both of Nia’s hands. Nia tried to keep her calm as his gray eyes stared at her.
â€œNo, it’s totally okay.” Nia could feel the heat growing between her legs. She needed him to stop staring at her before she found herself breaking the rules right along with Cree.
â€œDamn elevators. What floor are you on again?” Kirk looked up the winding staircase, which seemed to never end.
â€œTen.” Nia and Kirk both laughed.
â€œOf course you are.” Kirk looked at Nia again. “How about an alternative? I feel that since I fought for you, it’s only right that you come back to my room and make sure my hand doesn’t swell.”
Nia wanted to yell yes so that it echoed throughout the staircase. She smiled. “That sounds great and all but . . .”
â€œPG rated. I promise.” Kirk’s eyes were fixed on Nia again.
    â€œUm . . .”
â€œLook.” Kirk took Nia’s hand again. “I could make up some excuse, but the truth is that this has been a great night, and honestly, I’m not ready to let you go just yet.”
Nia’s eyes met Kirk’s. She knew she had to be dreaming. How did the little mocha girl have the Adonis from her favorite TV show telling her how he didn’t want to leave her? She knew she needed to say no, walk up the insane number of steps, and get in her own bed. But she couldn’t take her eyes off of him.
â€œWell, now, how is a girl supposed to say no to those eyes?”
Kirk squeezed Nia’s hand, and they headed out the side door.
