other’s arms for a moment, Clara finally opened her eyes.
    ‘Shit,’ she said, ‘Ace Cooper, we better call the cops.’
    Harvey sighed humorously. ‘Can’t we keep him?’ he asked, ‘the fella must have some uses.’
    ‘Yeah right,’ Clara snorted.
    Harvey stood up and pulled on his jeans, he strapped his pistol to his holster. As he buttoned his shirt, Clara got off the bed and wrapped a dressing gown around herself . She just knew the cops would know what they’d been up to. Typical.
    Harvey opened the door and stepped out into the hallway. He immediately burst out laughing. ‘Hey Clara!’ he called, ‘check it out.’
    Clara arrived beside him in the doorway and clasped her hand over her mouth. ‘Oh man,’ she laughed.
    On the floor Ace Cooper had managed to flip himself over and was currently trying to use the table leg to saw through his cuffs. It was having a negative effect on the wood alright, but not a dent in the metal around his hands. In fact, if they hadn’t stopped him just in time, the table would have probably collapsed on top of him, any minute now.
    ‘I thought you was supposed to be some kind of evil genius,’ Harvey laughed, ‘but you’re just dumber than a coot, ain’t ya ?’
    Cooper’s face flushed with fury and he began writhing around on the floor, like he was a toddler throwing a temper tantrum. Clara shook her head in disgust. She looked over at Harvey as the sheriff dialed the cops and told them the situation. Now that she saw him in this light, she realized that he was everything she ever could have wanted in a man and, provided he was willing to change, she knew she was truly ready to take it to the next level. Life could be good sometimes. Hell yeah.
