no idea what to call girly things.
“I do. I really do.” All at once she was aware of what she’d said. “But you’re not buying it for me.”
    “Why not?”
“Because…well, just because, that’s all.” The joy on her face left. “Besides, it wouldn’t look good on me anyway.”
    “Why not?”
She gave him such a sad look that it broke his heart. “Because this kind of dress doesn’t look good on someone with a body like mine.”

Alex hated herself for saying that. Hated that she’d let Kane see her in anything but a good light.
He shrugged. “Yeah, I guess it wouldn’t. You’re just too much woman for that dress.”
His words stabbed her heart. Was it already happening? Had he accidentally let his true thoughts about her shape come out? “Yeah. That’s what I mean.”
She studied the dress in front of her again, then moved to put it back on the rack. “I’m too big for it.”
“Don’t be ridiculous. You’re too damn sexy for it.”
She squealed when he grabbed her hand and hauled her and the dress toward the back of the store. “What are you doing, Kane?”
“Where are the dressing rooms? They have them, don’t they?”
She pointed at the simple sign that led down a short hallway with two doors on either side. “There.”
He had her inside the farthest room before she could think to argue. But when he came inside the changing room with her, she was sure he’d lost his mind. “Kane, this is a ladies’ dressing room. You have to get out.”
“Not until you try that dress on.”
She gaped at him, unable to think of a way to get him to leave. It’d been hard enough to let Jeff see her granny-style white undies, but letting Kane see her without her clothes in the harsh light of a dressing room would be a thousand times more painful. She’d rather get stung by a thousand bees.
    “You’re out of your mind.”
“Alex, I’m not going anywhere until you do it.”
    “Kane—”
“Either you take off your clothes and try it on, or I’ll do it for you.”
The idea sent a shudder through her. She’d always found forceful men attractive. Had, in fact, dreamed a fantasy about struggling against a man who would take her against her will. Not in a brutal rape kind of way, but in a primal, instinctual way that meant he claimed her. A way that would tell her she was all woman and his woman. Kane was the kind of forceful man that made a woman wet between the legs. He was demanding and commanding in a good way.
She glanced around the small room, acting like she was searching for another way out. Someone had left a blouse, a belt, and a scarf hanging on one of the hooks. Determined not to let him see that his idea excited her— down, nipples! —she crossed her arms, ready to see how far he’d take his threat. “I’d like to see you try.”
    Please, oh, please try.
Taking both sides of her shirt, he tugged on the material, forcing her arms over her head. She had no other option but to let him unless she wanted to risk tearing her shirt. The glare of the overhead fluorescent lighting made every blemish, every bulge of her body stand out in all-too-clear clarity.
He stood back, letting his gaze sweep over her, and unnerving her even more. “Dang, girl.”
She closed her eyes and fought back the tears. He was as disappointed in her body as she’d thought he’d be. Pain gave way to anger and indignity. Even if he hadn’t realized how big she was earlier—was the man blind?—that didn’t mean he should make her feel any worse than she already did.
Fisting her hands to keep from slapping him, she ground out her words. “Get out, Kane. Leave before I scream.”
“Go ahead. I plan to make you scream and I don’t care if the whole town hears you.”
Confused, she opened her eyes. His mouth was parted, his tongue peeking out from between his full, yet masculine lips. “I don’t understand.”
“You will.” He crushed her to him then, taking her breath
