he awaited his answer.
“No clue.” My breath rushed out with the deep thrust he made. I arched my back, pressing harder against him.
“It means you’ve given in.” He leaned forward, resting his hands on the rock and pushed deeper into me.
“But I’ll let you in on a secret. It makes me crazy every time you call me Overton. It makes me want to bend you over and fuck you until you have no choice but to call me Stanton.” He lifted my legs, spreading them, scooting my pelvis closer to the edge of the rock. This position gave him greater access to my depths.
I gasped—more from the ferocity of his thrusts than his words.
“Well, Overton, it serves you right for keeping secrets.”
He growled and buried himself as deeply as he could and held position.
I shuttered. So full. Hearing him talk that way was too much. And when he slammed again, my legs stiffened and my inner walls gripped him. Euphoria filled my head.
“Bloody hell.” His hips pistoned into me faster and faster as his face tensed. A final groan and he emptied inside me.
His chest heaved, and he reached up, touched my face, and smiled. “That was very naughty of you.”
“Like you’re in any position to talk. When were you planning on telling me you can use magic?” I wiggled.
“I wasn’t. I’ve been forbidden to use it. But it seems to be a day for breaking rules.” He pulled out of me, lifted me, turned me, and bent me over the rock. “By the way, I know what you did. You’re a bad influence on me.”
Before I exhaled my next breath, he was back inside me.
My body welcomed him. It relished his closeness.
“Every time you call me Overton, I want you to remember what’s waiting for you, when we’re alone.”
“And that is supposed to deter me?”
“That sassy mouth of yours drives me mad.” He grabbed my shoulder and pulled me back so he could whisper in my ear. “Do you have any idea what that means?” His stubble left a pleasant burn on my neck with each thrust.
“That my mouth is going to get me in trouble.”
“No. Wrong, love.” He kissed me behind the ear. “I just broke a six-hundred-year-old vow. I’m afraid your mouth is going to be too busy making up for lost time.”
He turned my head and captured my lips as he unleashed his punishment.
He fucked me so hard it was impossible to tell if the penitence was for him or me. But one thing above all else: he affirmed I was alive.
“I almost lost you.” He wrapped his arm across my throat and held my back to his chest while he gave into his desire. “I love you so bloody much, it hurts.”
The pain and passion in his words brought me to the precipice. My legs shook as orgasm gripped me, stealing my breath and squeezing him tight.
His arms closed around me as his syncopated thrusts signaled his impending release.
He groaned, my name his final utterance as he filled me once more with splash after splash of seed.
The soft kisses on my neck, caresses on my arms. Tender Overton was back.
“I love you so much more than I ever thought possible. I would have done anything to save you.”
I wanted to give him the words, but didn’t. If I did love him, saying it out loud made it seem as though I had given up on Cyril. Was it possible to love them both?
“You don’t need to say anything. I know you still love him. I do too. I just hope someday your heart will grow to hold us both.”
He turned me around. I felt the evidence of our lovemaking trickle down my thigh. He picked up his shirt and held it so I could slip my arms through the sleeve. When he bent to pick up his pants, he paused and then ran his finger up the inside of my leg, collecting the thick moisture on his finger. He placed a hand on my abdomen.
“Knowing I left a part of myself inside you…if only…” He paused, and then he lifted his gaze to connect with mine. The depth of his love could not be disputed. I knew what he was thinking. I’d never know children from any of them; it simply
