lamplight, his tanned skin was smooth and perfect, and she lay back on the bed and watched. With his jeans still on, no sign of any disfigurement was visible and she could almost forget her worry about his leg. In fact, she would force herself to.
After tonight, they’d deal with the bad guys then go their own ways. She had to find a way to break with her former organization if she was going to make a life and he would, hopefully, heal and return to the career he loved. She’d loved hers once, too.
She shivered again, and he frowned. “You’re cold.” She wasn’t. The wind had died down at some point, and, though the window was still open, the heat between them created a whole different kind of trembling. Still, she lay quiet, watching him move to the window and jerk it closed, cutting off most of the outdoor sounds, shutting them in together.
Ryder returned to her side and bent to kiss her. His lips were firm against hers, moving in a demanding way, taking, not asking. Her core clenched at her realization he wasn’t going to ask any more permission. He sat her up and drew her T-shirt over her head then unsnapped her bra and eased it over her shoulders. Silent, determined. He unbuttoned her jeans and, laying her back, slid them over her hips to her feet. Pausing to tug off her boots, he followed them with her jeans and then laughed.
    “Commando?”
“Looked good on you,” she replied. “We were in a hurry.”
“Yet you put on a bra.”
“I didn’t want to be bouncing all over the place if we had to go after the bad guys.”
    He nodded. “Smart.”
Reaching into the drawer of erotica, he pulled out a length of coiled rope. “Hands.”
She held them out to him and watched as he looped it around her wrists over and over then tugged her bound hands over her head and fastened them to the heavy pine posts at the top of the bed. “You look good like that, too,” he said.
“So do you.” God she’d never taken her fantasies into reality before.
“Not for long.” He held a kerchief up and folded it into a long rectangle. Bringing it to her face, he said, “Lift your head.” Amazing how awkward that was, when her hands were above it, but she managed and the light disappeared behind the kerchief tied around her face. “You okay in there?”
“Yes,” she gasped, her heart rate zooming the instant he stepped back. She strained to make out what he might be doing. To remember what she’d seen in the drawer.
His hand closed around her ankle, and the scratchiness of the rope enclosed it. He tugged it to the side and then reached for the other. She felt open, vulnerable, her legs bound wide open.
What was he going to do?
Maybe this was a bad idea. She opened her mouth to say so, but his lips were on her throat, and she swallowed the words, focused on the sensation. On the heat, the scrape of his five o’clock shadow against her skin. He nipped her earlobe, and his breath ignited her skin everywhere it touched.
“Ready to play?” He bit a little harder, toying with her lobe.
She nodded, but he hadn’t waited for an answer. His weight dipped the mattress at her side and something cool and a little sharp pressed into the skin at her wrist. It moved down her inner arm, slowly. Her skin woke up, a bit at a time. He reached her underarm and then started on the other wrist, the teeth the wheel—it must be one of those little wheels she read about, what were they called? Wartenberg wheels? She hadn’t seen one in the drawer, but ohhhh….
Leaving her arms behind, the wheel traveled down her shoulder toward her left breast. It rolled its way over the upward swell and around the nipple. She felt like her whole body was an erogenous zone. “That feels…it feels…,”
“What does it feel like?” he breathed in her ear, his deep voice adding layers to her arousal. “Good?”
    “Amazing,” she sighed.
He chuckled and continued to circle her nipple, running over it then going around again. Just when
