Unwanted Mate
I have an idea....” She explained
what she had in mind.
“I hope you know what you are doing,” Lucien
stated as he kissed his mate before he left. She showered and
awaited the arrival of her guests. She thought about what she knew
about mates. Earlier, Lucien had explained that mates couldn’t hurt
each other physically. To purposely cause a mate pain, with either
words or deeds, was unheard of. She hoped this was true. She
thought about Lucien and knew it was true.

Chapter 3
Zane stared at the very pregnant woman in
front of him. He wasn’t sure why he was in the Alpha’s house. She
smiled and greeted him as if he were a distant relative. She showed
him to his room, pointed out some clothes and suggested he shower
before dinner. He showered and went back to the living room, where
he found her waiting for him. He stood nervously until she asked
him to sit next to her.
Jackie walked into the living room, her Alpha
behind her. She froze when she saw Zane, his hand on the belly of
the Alpha’s mate. He was smiling and had an odd look on his face.
Like he was longing for something….
Lanie laughed and moved Zane’s hand to
another spot on her belly. “There it is again! Did you feel it?”
She turned and looked at Lucien with a smile. Zane immediately
pulled his hand away and stood up, fully expecting the Alpha to
strike him for touching his pregnant mate.
“The baby is kicking up a storm! She must be
excited that we are having guests.” She looked at Jackie and patted
the seat next to her. Jackie sat stiffly next to Lanie, eyes
lowered out of respect.
“Hello, Jackie. I’m Lanie. Welcome to our
home.” Jackie thanked her and nodded.
    “I believe you’ve already met Zane.…” She
noticed that Jackie refused to look at Zane, who was still standing
tensely.
“Zane, relax. Lucien isn’t going to hurt you.
He knows you were just feeling the baby kick.” Lanie tugged on his
hand, encouraging him to sit. Lucien nodded to Zane and he sat
down, lowering his eyes in submission. Lucien knelt before Lanie.
He touched her belly gently, smiling when he felt a kick. He leaned
over and kissed her gently, then stood and moved to sit opposite
his mate so he could observe.
“Do you have any nieces or nephews,
Zane?”
    “No. I’m an orphan. I…I don’t have
anyone.”
“Awww. You poor thing! You’re not alone
anymore. I think I’m going to adopt you. What do you think Lucien?
You did say you wanted a boy…” She turned to look at Lucien, who
raised his eyebrow.
“What? At least you wouldn’t have to change
any diapers…”
“If you think I’m going to change any
diapers…you’re absolutely right. It’s the least I can do for my
precious mate,” he said lovingly. Lanie grinned at Lucien then
glanced at the clock and mentioned it was time to get dinner
started. Zane stood up and she held out her hand to him. He held
her hands in his and helped her stand up.
“Thanks. It gets harder and harder to get up
these days. So, who’s going to help me make dinner?”
“I’m a decent cook.” Zane replied, looking
nervously at the Alpha.
“Great, you’re hired! Come with me.” Zane
followed as Lanie led the way into the kitchen. He was delighted
with her kitchen. They discussed several options then he began
gathering ingredients. Though he was busy prepping dinner, he
noticed immediately when Jackie walked into the kitchen and sat
next to the Alpha’s mate. Zane wasn’t sure what terrified him more,
the Alpha, or his mate, Jackie?
Jackie sat beside the Alpha’s mate and
watched Zane as he prepared dinner. She had to admit, he was
interesting to watch as he sliced, diced, and sautéed dinner. He
was physically fit, as were most werewolves. The deep blue shirt he
wore clung to him like a second skin and she could see his muscular
shoulders and biceps. Did all men look that good in Jeans? His ass
filled out his jeans perfectly. She had a sudden desire to walk
over to him and grab his ass. She
