until you have English?”
â€œI’m too suspicious! There’s no way Jessica Wakefield can get away with nosing around Mr. Bowman’s stuff. But Elizabeth Wakefield can get away with anything!” You nod, seeing her logic. “Besides, if we switch during first period, then you can take my test!”
You cross your arms. “No way, Jess,” you say firmly. “That’s cheating.”
â€œBut it would be so simple, Lizzie. And no one will know the difference.”
If you agree to switch identities with Jessica tomorrow, turn to page 98 .
If you refuse to switch identities with Jessica tomorrow, turn to page 114 .

As usual, you find your twin impossible to resist. “I have a feeling I’m making the biggest mistake of my life,” you say, relenting. “But okay.”
Jessica flashes you a bright smile and hugs you as hard as she can.
The next morning, you dress in the outfit Jessica put together for you: an uncomfortably short electric blue minidress with purple opaque tights. Jessica always makes a point of wearing at least one purple article of clothing. She does this because she’s a member of the Unicorn Club, and every girl in the club does the same. The Unicorns are very exclusive, and consider themselves to be as beautiful and special as the mythical animal of the same name.
Soon, with Jessica dressed in the striped sweater and blue jeans you’ve picked out for her, the two of you are strolling down the tree-lined streets of Sweet Valley, California, a town which both of you think is the most perfect place on earth. As always, the sun is shining in a blue sky that’s dotted with only the tiniest puffs of clouds. With weather like this, it’s even harder to believe that your school has been infiltrated by an alien.
You part ways with your twin in front of your locker. “Good luck,” you say. “And be careful.”
â€œOh, Lizzie,” she smiles. “Don’t be such a worrywart!”
You have a bad feeling about this.

As you’re walking down the tiled hallway to math class, you hear your twin’s name.
It’s Lila Fowler, Jessica’s best friend. She hurries to catch up with you, tossing her chestnut hair behind her shoulder. “That minidress is fabulous!” she exclaims.
The only daughter of one of the wealthier men in Sweet Valley, Lila is one of the richest and snobbiest girls in school, and you don’t like her very much. But you stop and wait, faking a smile.
â€œWhoa,” Lila whispers. “Check out Lois Waller. She can’t even fit into sweatpants anymore!”
Although you don’t know Lois well, you feel sorry for the pudgy girl. You’ve noticed that she has clear skin and remarkable facial bone structure. If only she’d lose some weight, she’d be pretty.
Determined not to blow your cover, you search for a catty remark. “What a tub,” you say.
Lila laughs appreciatively. “Come on. We’ll be late to math.” You hurry to Ms. Wyler’s classroom. As you enter, Lila leans into you and whispers, “Remember the plan.”
    Plan? What plan?
You take Jessica’s seat in front of Ellen Riteman, who smiles and waves. Lila sits behind her. Ellen is a snob, too—not as rich or as smart as Lila, but just as nasty. Like Jessica, they’re both members of the Unicorn Club. Ellen leans forward and whispers, “Don’t forget.”
You narrow your eyes. What could the ‘Snob Squad’ be planning now?
â€œScoot to the left,” she whispers. “I can’t see.”
You can’t believe it. Ellen is planning on copying off ‘Jessica,’ which means Lila is planning on copying off Ellen. ‘The plan’ is a web of cheating, and you’re caught right in its center!
As Ms. Wyler begins passing out the test, you’re fuming. Jessica must have set up this
