fidgeted a little.
"You looked great in them! Why haven't you?"
Lia was a little frustrated with her friend.
"Mark is so….so…"
"So what?"
"So normal. I don't want him to think I wasn't the person he married."
"Do you think he is the same person you married? Hell Di, people change. There's nothing wrong with that. If you want to try something different, let him know, Mark loves you and I bet he would like it too."
Lia assured her for the next few minutes that she wasn't weird, that Mark was open minded, that the outfits she bought weren't freaky, and she looked great in them, and she should at least tell him. Diane wasn't so sure.
As they talked, and continued to drink, Lia began pressing for more information. Diane was reluctant at first, but after a while began telling her friend some of the more lurid details she had fantasized.
"Leather and men, not man, but men, and more"
Diane blushed at first, but Lia was a friend for many years, and the embarrassment wore off after hearing her say they shared many of the same thoughts and that Lia had actually tried some of the things she had been thinking.
"Really??"
Diane's eyes flared wide.
"Yes"
Lia stated matter-of-factly.
"It was great! Not something for everyday, but once in a while I loved it!"
"Two guys. Wow! What did Charles think?"
Diane was now the interrogator.
"He seemed to really enjoy it. I did have to give him a special night later. Well, I did not have to, but I wanted to, and I think that made it all right. All right enough that we did it again a few months later."
Lia was the one blushing now.
"I don't want it to happen in a planned way though"
Diane's speech was slurred a little.
"I want it to be a surprise. I want . . . Oh Hi Honey!"
Diane blurted out as Mark walked up.
"Come on Di, we need to get home."
Mark bent and took her by the arm, gently helping her to her feet. Mark spoke to Lia, and gave her a tiny cheek kiss good night and the two eased towards the door. Once in the car, Diane felt rather sleepy. Leaning on the headrest, Mark told her he would be right back. Mark said he had forgotten something, and would be right back. Diane did not remember the ride home, she felt him undressing her in their bedroom, and placing her on the sheets and pulling the blanket over her. Morning came shining rudely through their window, and Diane could hear Mark in the shower. She got up, and peeked in the bathroom and spied his cute little butt through the glass stall doors and smiled as she headed into the other bathroom.
The sizzle and pop of the eggs snapped Diane back to the kitchen. Mark came in, took a seat, opened the paper and sipped his coffee. Diane made their plates and took a seat across from him and they ate. They talked about the night before, and how Diane did not really remember much about the latter part of the night. She remembered talking to Lia, but wouldn't say what they had been talking about for the three hours or so they sat together.
"Three hours!?"
Diane couldn't believe what Mark had said.
"Yes dear, you two sat there jabbering and giggling for three hours."
Mark insisted that he had watched them and let them talk saying "it looked like you needed to talk". As Mark finished off his coffee, he stood walked around the table, grabbed his briefcase, kissed Diane on the cheek and told her he would be late due to a meeting of the partners.
"I made reservations for you at Donatello's for 8pm. I will try to be there, but if I don't make it, I will meet you here no later than 10. I have to stop here before my meeting, if I don't make it to dinner, I will try to leave a note on the door with instructions."
Mark closed the door with a quick "I love you". Diane did not have a chance to ask about the "instructions" It was an odd choice of words Diane thought. She dismissed it and cleaned up the kitchen. The day followed its predictable pattern. Diane straightened up the house and late in the afternoon she dressed for dinner.
