shown her. The opportunity to experience the same was more than she could ever hope for.
But she couldn’t have it all, could she? Exciting travel, a younger man who loved her, and a baby. Could anyone be that lucky?
“Sure, other people can do it. Why can’t we?” He sucked a little harder on her neck, nuzzling into the junction of her shoulder and throat. “We can figure it out. I’m sure of it.”
“But what about money?” Her income from the library wasn’t much, but it supported her well enough. But a baby, or a whole family?
“You don’t have to worry about that.” He smiled before dipping down further, his lips sliding across her collarbone then between her beasts. “I earn a good income. I have more than enough to keep you in the standard of living I want you to grow accustomed to.”
“And what kind of lifestyle is that?”
He rubbed his chin along her sternum. The rough brush of his stubble stoked her nerves, vibrating out to the rest of her body. Her nipples beaded. Wetness dripped between her thighs.
“I don’t know, I was thinking something like, making love all day.” He pushed her shirt and bra aside then pulled her nipple into his mouth.
She arched toward him. “I could get used to that.”
He released her nipple, nuzzling his way underneath the layers of her clothing to her other breast. He looked up at her, his eyes dark, clouded with lust. “How about a life where I give you everything you ever wanted and fulfill every dream you’ve ever had?”
She squeezed her arms tighter around his neck, suddenly dizzy. He extended his tongue to rub it across her puckered nipple.
She hissed out a breath. “Only if I can do the same for you.”
The earnest devotion in his eyes called to a place deep inside her. “You already have, baby.”
And with that, he sealed their mouths together, enrapturing her in a world unlike any she’d ever known. A world where she got everything she wanted. A place filled with love and devotion.
Even with all her fertility troubles with Leo, she had no doubt she and Jeremy would conceive. How could this much love not create a child? But damn, they’d have a good time trying.

“Merlot, please,” Serena ordered from the bartender, handing him the single paper ticket parcelled out so no one got drunk on the company dime. From the animated conversations around her, a few had already done so at their own expense at the hotel bar.
The Vertical Aeronautics annual all-people meeting had got off to the same start as last year, reminding Serena why she’d chosen to become an engineer. She’d much rather spend the day with gears and equations than people. Plus it was the closest she could get to flying, due to her horrible vision and flat feet.
Subtly, she looked down at her watch, trying to gauge how much longer she had to stand around the banquet hall and make nice with the other employees. The day had already been a long one, and the night continued to drone on. All she wanted to do was get out of this uncomfortable suit and too-tight shoes and relax for what remained of the evening.
“Ms Carter, how are you doing tonight?”
Serena turned and smiled at the man who’d slid up to the bar beside her, even though her cheeks were already tired from so many forced smiles today. “I’m doing well, Larry, how are you?”
He nodded. “Good, good.” He smiled at the bartender and ordered a whisky sour. “Though my department didn’t perform quite as well as yours did last year.”
Serena nodded. “Thank you. We were very lucky.”
Luck had nothing to do with it. It was damn hard work to keep her staff motivated, most of them still begrudging that she’d got the promotion to vice president over many of the more senior team members. But she’d learned long ago that modesty worked better at these work functions than the
