Marcus had been willing to admit.
Marcus walked back into view escorting Reagan who was now wearing one of Marcus’s dress shirts that dwarfed her.  “I forget that Reagan’s muscles don’t like being in one position for too long.  Now, I’d like to include her in our conversation if you don’t mind.  As you know she usually works with kids but I’m sure some of the information will cross over and her experience as a newbie thrust into the deep-end of the lifestyle will be valuable.”
“Absolutely.  Reagan, we’d be interested in knowing what you think.  Any suggestions as to how to repair the damage we’ve done?”  Trev had moved in closer so Reagan would be able to see him as well as hear him speak.  They had both enjoyed the conversations they’d had with her, and knew how witty and insightful she was.  Reagan and Marcus had a very intense relationship, and it was far more structured around the lifestyle than Jameson or Trev were interested in living, but it seemed to work for them.
“You have already been over the missteps so I won’t review those.”  She smiled at them warmly and added, “Besides , I’m sure you are more interested in solutions than rehashing all of those points.  But I want you to remember, if you are still there in your mind, you won’t be here. And that, my friends, will make all the difference between your success and failure in any attempt at reparation, so keep that point in mind.”
Their expressions must have given away their confusion because Marcus barked out his laughter.  “Pet, you better rein in the doctor-speak a bit.”  Then directing his comments to them, he added , “She is telling you to stop beating yourselves up over it.  You can’t keep thinking about all the ways you’ve managed to fuck this up—despite the fact it’s actually a fairly impressive number.”
Reagan smiled gently even as she started to roll her eyes before catching herself and grinning.  “What my Master is not saying very tactfully is correct.  Your focus needs to be on Kit.  She is lovely and really wants to do well, but she is very new to the lifestyle despite the fact you have been mated for over a year.  During that time, you haven’t followed D/s rules per se and she hasn’t spent much time at all with other submissives so she hasn’t even had the chance to observe.”
She paused for several seconds to let her words sink in, and Jameson smiled as he returned his attention to her and saw her smiling indulgently.  The patient, observant doctor persona was present, but her eyes were alight with friendship as well and Jameson found it oddly comforting.
“The key to all of this is listening to her.  So many people ask the right questions, but then they don’t actually listen to the answers.  And I also encourage you to use the active listening skills I know you have learned as Dominants.  Reflect the answers back to her to ensure you are hearing what she actually intended to convey.  And the conversation should really take place on neutral ground.”  When he started to speak she held up her hand, “I know that is difficult because of the threats she has gotten in the past, perhaps just having neutral people present might help.  So how about this?  What if Master Marcus and I came out to visit?  I haven’t seen the babies for too long and maybe Kit would benefit from some girl time.”
Jameson was equally touched and relieved by her suggestion and they’d quickly made arrangements for the Hines to join them the next evening for dinner.  After disconnecting the call , Jameson leaned back into his chair and looked over at his brother.  Trev seemed lost in thought and Jameson knew his brother was feeling guilty for his part in everything that had happened earlier with Kit.  Ordinarily Trev was the more sensitive of the two of them and the fact he hadn’t tuned in to their mate was going to be difficult for him to overcome.  “Reagan is
