a few years.
“DREW!” We both called at the same time. He looked at us, his smile grew and we ran towards him and he caught us both in a big hug.
“Hey, girls, what you doing here? Haven’t seen you in years.” He said, surprised to see us.
“We’re friends with Rick; his band plays at the bar I work in.” I explained to him. As I said this, his eyebrows rose and he said to Marcy, pointing at me; “SHE works in a bar?”
“Hey, I’m stood right here!” I said, nudging him with my shoulder. We were stood talking to Drew for a little while, catching up when Jackson joined us. I introduced the guys to each other and Jackson whispered in my ear; “Is this guy bothering you? Want me to get rid of him?”
“No! We have been friends for years.” I whispered back to him, surprised that he had suggested it.
He raised his hands in front of himself palms facing me, and started backing away.

Rick’s party was in full swing. Cindy and I were enjoying having a few drinks and a couple of dances; I was making the most of enjoying her company before she got too drunk, lately she didn’t know when to stop. Esme was here with a couple of her friends, they were mingling around quite a bit. I tried to keep an eye on her as I didn’t want anyone hurting her; I was surprised it bothered me so much and why I kept thinking like that. She wasn’t mine to protect, but she seemed so sweet and innocent and I didn’t want guys bothering her.
“Hey, I’m going to go to the bathroom.” Cindy said to me. I just nodded my head at her and found myself looking around for Esme.
She was in a corner with a guy I didn’t recognise, he was standing very close to her and it looked like he was whispering in her ear. I wanted to go over there and pull him off her, but she didn’t seem to be looking uncomfortable or scared.
I walked over to where Rick was standing, talking to some girls and said to him; “Who is Esme talking to?”
“That’s Simon. Chill out, he’s a nice guy and his girlfriend is over there.” He said, pointing to a group of girls I didn’t know.
Just as I’d sighed with relief, I felt a hand run up my arm and across my chest. Thinking it was Cindy, I didn’t pull away straight away, but when I turned around I was faced with a half-naked leggy blonde, smiling at me. Her eyes were wide and her pupils were dilated, she was either stupidly drunk or extremely high. I took her arm and pulled it off me. She pouted and whined; “Come on, I will show you a good time.”
“If my girlfriend catches you with your hands all over me, you won’t know what’s hit you, so I suggest you go find someone else - and here she comes now.”
She pouted again and not looking around she staggered off to speak to another guy. Cindy wasn’t really coming towards us, but the threat of her always worked with the girls.
“Ha Ha, oh man, all the girls want you.” Rick said as he slapped me on the shoulder.
“Well, I’m not interested in other girls.” I said, as my eyes wandered over to Esme again, who was now dancing with a different guy. This one seemed a bit too much, and he was being very hands on. I couldn’t imagine Esme liking that so I wandered over.
“Esme, can I cut in, please?” I said, looking at her and not the guy.
She smiled and a let out a sigh of relief; “Jax, that would be nice, haven’t had a chance to talk to you tonight... Thanks for the dance, Joe, will catch up with you later.”
He didn’t look too happy as I stood closer to Esme and pulled her towards me to dance. As he walked away, I stepped back to make a bit of room between us as Cindy was around somewhere and I didn’t want to have to put up with her being angry and pissed with me.
    “Jax.” I heard Cindy say my name. I let go of Esme, stood back and looked over to Cindy; she was stood watching us with her hands on her hips. I was about to speak when Esme beat me to it;
“Thanks for letting me borrow Jax, Cindy. I
