“You didn’t say no. What you said was, and I quote, my family would kill me if I ran off and eloped. My hearing is pretty good. Did you say anything resembling, I don’t want to marry you, Dominic? Or even a simple no would have sufficed. So that tells me that you want to take the plunge with me, only you don’t want to anger your family.”

“What about your family? Wouldn’t your mom at least be upset?”

“Probably so, but I plan on making us man and wife. We don’t have to make an announcement to our families just yet. Let them have the fun of throwing a big to do. It just means we will have two anniversaries.” He could tell she was halfway sold on his plan. The other half of her that disagreed, Dominic planned to oscillate to his scheme this evening.

The entire night was used to sway her conscious until she cried uncle during the last round of sexual exploration and she was his in every way by three a.m. He swept her away and onto a first-class flight before she could change her mind, before she could beg for respite from his attentions or even gain more time to think about it.   He was sure that Nicolette never, ever imagined the trousseau for her wedding would be a bag she packed for her weekend with a gigolo. The next afternoon, they arrived into a bright and hot Sin City and ate breakfast for lunch, then were joined as man and wife posthaste at a quickie chapel.

He recalled the wedding plans with a chuckle. The chapel’s on staff Elvis impersonator was actually named Steve Brodenski and looked just as All-American as his name implied.   The rhinestone garbed official asked them a few questions about their plans.

“So would ya’ll like the hunk of burning love package?” His heart skipped a beat when Nicolette laughed at Steve’s query.

Dominic assumed the man must have seen his DateJust gold Rolex, her Tiffany tennis bracelet and went for the big bucks. The hunk of burning love package was the finest that the chapel offered, with every tacky accoutrement that could be packaged, printed, or prepped for a wedding. There were packets of M and M’s available in almost every letter or symbol imaginable. There were travel mugs that could be printed with their photo and the date, but those would be shipped as they took a few days to produce. They offered labels that could be made to combine their name and address information, and the faux tabernacle even had change of address forms for the postal service.

“We’ll take the package.” He couldn’t resist the cheesy mementos and even though Nicolette’s obvious cachinnation echoed in the small room, he had the mugs and calendars specially printed to commemorate anyway.
