with her heart weighing heavy, but her perfect man in her bed. And in the end, that was all she had ever truly wanted.
    ***
Main Street was quiet for the early morning and as they stood waiting for the bus to arrive, Serena had to focus on something, anything, to stop herself from breaking down.
She had spent two weeks in Slate Springs, but now she knew that the time had come for her to leave. Even if it would only be for two weeks while she got all of her affairs in order back home. But that was how hard and fast she had fallen. The thought of leaving Stick even for a day was making her heart break in two.
“How long will it take you?” he asked as he held onto her tightly and she kissed him again.
                  “Three days,” she said sadly.
“But then once you’re there, it’ll only be another week before I arrive to collect you and bring you back here for good,” he said with a grin and she knew that she had to hold onto that to stop herself from bursting into tears.
She had nothing waiting for her back home, and now that she had discovered the way of life with The Forsaken Riders, she finally felt as if she belonged. Even Lynx had come around once they had spoken to him properly and they had agreed to keep Serena’s presence in town a secret until everything with The Iron Riders had blown over. And now Stick and Serena had another mission that they wanted to try and complete, they wanted to get Lynx and Tammy back together. If there was one thing they had both learned, love wasn’t worth compromising.
The bus pulled around the corner of Main Street and edged closer and closer toward them. Serena pulled her man close to her and breathed him in. She was going to miss that scent and those tattoos and those gorgeous green eyes. But it wouldn’t be long before she was back with him again and they would begin their new, perfect life together.
The door to the Greyhound hissed open and she hugged him tight. It had been a crazy two weeks, but she was happy, and she owed it all to him.
She stepped onto the coach and turned back and waved with tears in her eyes. She didn’t need to say goodbye because that wasn’t what they were doing. It was just a see you later . It was just the start of the next chapter, which couldn’t begin soon enough.

CHAPTER ONE

“I swear, Sage Tariq, if you shed one more tear over that loser… That’s it! Get up out of that bed!”
Sage looked up from puffy eyes at her friend of over ten years; Eden Carter was a force to be reckoned with. Eden was pretty, vivacious and knew her own mind with a confidence men seemed to find sexy. She was also one of Sage’s best friends, but right now, she was Sage’s least favorite person in the whole world.
