who’ll be naked all the time like you.”
“Buy her the dresses, she’ll need them for church. Plus, it gets cold in winter.”
“Church?”
“Women get lonely, and need to gossip with each other. And that means church. Why do you think I make the Maddix boys take me?”
The men conferred and all finally agreed. Marina carefully wrote her sister’s address down for them, knowing her sister would be excited, once Marina convinced her. One man would never be enough for Jasmine, and this would give her the family she’d always dreamed of, when they were little girls, laid out on a haystack, watching the moon.
She saw three riders off in the distance, and knew immediately who they were. Her husbands were coming to get her and she couldn’t be happier. She waved to them, and the Underwood boys backed off. The big man made Jake get on the porch and waved at her boys as they came pounding up.
“Sorry bout that, George, you know how Jake gets.”
Lewis helped her up onto his horse and rode home with her while the other two men stayed to talk. “Did they hurt you?” he asked.
Marina snuggled into Lewis’s strong arms. “No. That big man was so mad at Jake. He was hitching the wagon to bring me home already. And I promised them my sister would marry them.”
Lewis let out a bark of laughter. “Would she really?”
“Oh, yes. She’ll love being married to six big strong men.”
“I’m glad they didn’t hurt you. We were worried. I was worried.” He kissed the top of her head. “We thought you were so mad at how hard we used you last night, that you left us for them.”
She shook her head. “I couldn’t do that. I love you three. You’re the men I want to spend the rest of my life with. And raise a family with.” She sighed contentedly, glad it was Lewis who was taking her home. He was easier for her to talk to than the others.
That night, they didn’t make love with her, but the four of them sat in the big bed, Lewis behind her and the other two on either side of her. “You really are content here?” George asked. “Even though we do stupid things sometimes?”
“I’m so very happy here,” Marina told him honestly. “I can’t imagine how boring being married to only one man would be.
Henry grinned. “I may have to spank you for saying that.”
She sighed. “I’m sure you will.” She leaned over and kissed him lightly. “I love all of you. Thank you for making me your mail order bride.”
