concentration pulled her in, holding her captive when she should
have been running. When he stopped playing, the final note resonated before
fading away.
    “That
was beautiful. I’m no expert, but you’re very talented.”
    He
grinned. “I think we’ve already established that.” He put down the violin, bowed,
and stood.
    Keva
recalled Sebastian using similar words. His eyes were normal, the color of
twilight. “Sebastian?”
    Inhaling,
he ran his fingers through his hair. “Guess again.”
    “Just
checking.” She spotted his clothing at the foot of her bed. Snatching up his
shirt and jeans in one fluid motion, without a pause in her stride she marched
across the room to him and shoved them at his chest. “Get dressed and get out.”
    He
allowed the jeans and shirt to drop to the floor. Capturing her wrists, he
tugged until their bodies were flush. Before the idea to fight him could fully
form, he cuffed both of her hands behind her back in one of his. “Now what?”
    That
deep voice of his never failed to elicit a reaction from her. She knew what
she’d said she’d do, but she just couldn’t do it. But she could threaten it.
“Now I make you sing like a castrato.” She nudged her knee between his thighs.
    Bastian
grinned. “And ruin our evening?” He took her mouth in a slow, gentle kiss, his
lips moving across hers. The tenderness seduced her in a way that force could
not. Before she knew it, she was opening her mouth to him as his tongue sought
entrance. She moaned at the languid, hot slide past her lips, and then against
her tongue. He used his other hand to tilt her head so that he could deepen the
kiss further. It went on and on, a heated, lazy seduction that had her pussy
pulsing and her nipples tightening. He ground his hips into hers, not bothering
to conceal how much he wanted her.
    Sebastian
buried his face in her neck, his hot breath on her sensitive skin making her
shiver. “Last time was too fast, Keva. Tonight, I’m going to—” A loud knock
interrupted him. Keva gulped as he released her. She should be relieved.
Instead, she was disappointed that he didn’t finish his sentence. “Are you
expecting someone?”
    Breathless
from his kiss, she shook her head. She made her way into the den on shaky legs.
Dr. Larsen smiled at her through the peephole. He held up a bag of coffee and
shook it from side to side. Keva suppressed a groan. She was hoping that he’d
taken her subtle hints that she wasn’t interested in him. He was a nice guy,
and she didn’t want to hurt his feelings.
    She
opened the door. Dr. Larsen didn’t wait for an invite. He brushed past her. “I
found an entire bag of caramel-macchiato-flavored coffee. Don’t worry. It’s
decaf. I must have bought it when—” He broke off. Sebastian had followed her
out of the bedroom and leaned casually against her fridge, arms crossed over
his bare chest. “I-I’m sorry. I didn’t realize you had a guest.”
    “Um,
yeah. Dr. Larsen, this is…” She wasn’t sure if she should give his name.
    Sebastian
solved the conundrum for her, stepping forward, his hand outstretched.
“Bastian,” he said. The countertop separated the two men. Keva wondered if he
was still aroused. His lower body wasn’t visible. She noticed that Bastian
gritted his teeth as his hand made contact with Dr. Larsen’s. It must have been
painful for him in his sensitive state of heightened psychic energy.
    “I
don’t want to interrupt,” Dr. Larsen said, his face red with embarrassment. He
sat the coffee down. “Maybe the two of you will enjoy this. Um, Keva, I’ll see
you tomorrow.” He backed toward the door.
    “Sure,
of course.” She locked up after him.
    “He
wants you,” Bastian stated.
    “You
read his mind?”
    “I
did. But I didn’t have to. His motives were pretty obvious.”
    “He’s
just a friend.”
    “He
came here with the intention of taking your friendship to the next level.” She
knew that and didn’t bother to deny it.
