chosen for her.
Conception has happened with two men.
The one on top of her.
And the one who suddenly shows up at the edge of the forest.
    “Move!” Siana whispers.
Titus slips off her, hauling her to her feet as they take in a charging Reaper.
    He speeds toward them.
    Their death in his eyes.

CHAPTER FOURTEEN
    Baird

No amount of blinking makes the vision leave. Siana keeps fucking a Faction, and Baird keeps watching.
Carrig makes a noise of disbelief behind him.
    Baird ignores him.
Baird has been rash these last two days when it comes to his actions. He will use a better weapon this time.
    Discernment.
    Is Siana being raped?
    Clearly not.
Her legs come around the Faction as he seats himself until his balls disappear.
    She moans in pleasure.
Baird's fists tighten. He looks around. Faction lay dead or dying. Blood is everywhere.
He can smell Siana's ripeness from here.
There was a battle, then there is sex.
The Faction finishes. Baird watches as they say a few words and he tenderly moves a golden spiral of hair out of her face.
That one motion makes Baird insane, it is though his brains slip the confines of his skull.
    “ Baird!” Carrig shouts.
But Baird hears nothing, sees nothing but his anger.
He plunges through the forest and bodies, making his way to the pair.
    Then something wholly unexpected occurs.
Siana says something to the Faction. He whips her in front of himself, looping his arms through her own, and lifts her.
Siana spreads her legs, and Baird slows, coming to a stop in front of her.
All he can see is her pussy, bright pink and well-fucked, seed from the Faction slipping out.
Baird rips down his breeches. He makes himself vulnerable to attack.
He ignores everything as he grabs Siana's ass cheeks and lunges forward, stabbing her with his cock.
The other male holds her, his offering of her wet pussy all Baird can think about. All that matters.
Carrig is forgotten. Apologies—sense. All thoughts are wiped clean.
He mindlessly fucks her, burying his length over and over.
He can smell Kael on her breath, and the new male too. Baird does not care. All he cares about is her.
    Fucking her.
    Loving her.
Siana's arms come around his neck. His hands jerk her hips up and down his prick.
She's so wet and tight. Slick with the seed of others. With his own.
Baird pours himself inside her with a shouting grunt, every drop of him sinking inside her.
His heartbeat slows, his hips stopping their blurred assault.
    Shame floods him.
He should have rescued her from this Faction. Instead, Baird finds out nothing, does nothing.
Her ripe pussy is all that matters.
“Wonderful, Baird,” Carrig says behind him. “Perfect way for introduction.”
Baird slips out of Siana and the Faction lifts her into his arms.
Carrig kicks aside the limb of another Faction.
Baird sighs and opens his mouth to speak.
The Faction holds up his hand. “We must go. We were but a small band of maunderers. The bulk of our kind will rendezvous, and when we do not appear, they will send out trackers.”
    Baird scowls.
The unknown Faction explains, “We are a mixed lot. Some are of Reaper blood. They can track a single ant inside an anthill.”
    “ Siana,” Baird says.
She shakes her head. “I am tired. I have done what I must to stay alive. Just now— as before.” She meets his gaze, her gold one more sad and wise than it was two days ago.
“Baird,” Carrig says in a low voice, “this does not help. Let us recoup what we can and seek shelter.”
    Siana's eyes close
“She sleeps,” the Faction says quietly.
Baird scrubs his face. Exhaustion has taken hold.
“All right.” Baird turns to Carrig.
    “ I have already scented a safe shelter—near a spring,” Carrig says.
Baird takes in Siana's nakedness. “What of clothing?”
Carrig rifles through the rucksacks of the Faction until he finds suitable breeches and a blouse. Undergarments cannot be found.
    They walk away.
    The Faction glances at Baird.
