not going to tell them that I was sitting outside the club waiting for Chelsea to leave so I could make sure she got out okay.
Liz rolls her eyes. “If you’d keep your dick in your pants, you’d go to bed at a decent hour.” She pats the side of my face. “Wouldn’t lose all of your beauty sleep, since you need it so much.”
“I’m going to bed.” I turn, stomp to my room and flop down on my bed.
    What a fucking morning!

    CHAPTER 11

    CHELSEA
“Mom, are you sure about this?” I say as she puts a few more pieces of clothes in her suitcase.
“Yes, sweetie. I have a four week break in my chemo cycle. I have to get out of this house. I haven’t been able to leave since your daddy-. Anyway, I need sometime. I’m just going to stay with your Aunt Dee. I’ll only be a few hours away if I need to call my doctor. I can stay just as air bubble tight there as I can here.” She stops and turns, touching each side of my face. “Plus, you need some time to yourself to process everything. I’ll be back in time for my next round of chemo. We’re going to beat this. You need to go out and act your age. Your birthday is coming up this weekend, do something fun.”
I laugh. “Really, what’s so fun about turning twenty-six?”
She winks at me. “Everything if it’s with the right person.”
I shake my head. “Mom!” I reach over and help her close the case. “Just please take care.”
She gives me her soft smile, the smile that always made me feel safe as a child. “I will, sweetie.” Turning to her mirror, she adjusts the ball cap she’s wearing to cover for the hair that chemo robbed from her.
A little while later I watch as she and my aunt pull out of our driveway. Now I have no clue what I’m going to do this weekend. The past few years Pavel has taken me out for a nice dinner or arranged for us to go away for the weekend. Now, thanks to working twelve hour shifts at the hospital, I’m not due at work this weekend. I only work at the club a couple of nights a week and I made sure my birthday wasn’t one of them, figuring my mom would want to do something. I guess when I go in tonight I can change it. I could offer to work some more nights but I really don’t want to. Maybe Mom’s right, I just need a weekend to myself. Well, myself and a pint, no, a carton of chocolate chip cookie dough ice cream. She swears I work too hard. She’s worried about the hours I put in at the hospital and the hours I spend on my feet cocktail waitressing. Well, she thinks I’m cocktail waitressing. She’d just as soon die than to find out I was taking off my clothes to have money for her chemo.
A few short hours later, I’m standing here in my dressing room putting on my make-up. After one last look in the mirror, I sit down and start covering up my tattoo. The words snake around like a small infinity symbol. I was eighteen when I got this, I hadn’t been gone from home very long. Once I’m finished, I stand to start dressing. I take off the short cover up, I’ve already put on the black thigh highs so now I slip the delicate scrap of lace I’m calling panties for the night on. I’m forgoing the garter belts tonight since it’s so damn hot in here again. I look in the mirror and stare at my breasts. I hate doing this, I’d love to leave them alone, but I have to. I reach and take the small hoops I have in each nipple out, placing the small clear spacers in their place. The owners love how responsive they make my nipples but hate the appearance of piercings. Slipping on the lacy black bra, I adjust my breasts, then I slip into the white dress shirt and tie before throwing on the coat. I guess I’m very lucky people are into all things Grey . It makes me plenty in tips, that’s for sure. Leaving my room, I make my way to the side of the stage and wait for my song to start.
You make it look like it’s magic
Cause I see nobody, nobody but you, you, you
    I'm never confused
    Hey, hey
    Just over
