She looked up at Tyson and remembered that he’d asked her a question. “When am I not ready to eat?”
When they had all their food served up and ready to eat, she just couldn’t let it go any longer. Whether he shot her down and told her it was none of her business, or if he stood up and started a slow clap, Ella was going to have to figure out where they stood.
“It’s funny how the tides turn,” she said as she watched him inhale his food, “yesterday we were just trying to find a way out of this mess, and today we’re free and clear.”
He studied her as she put a bite of the succulent roast beef with cheddar mashed potatoes in her mouth, and he looked at her so long she wondered if she had food on her face.
“Sometimes I wonder how I get into the things I get into, but there are times it is amazing how I get out of them. You were sent to be my undoing, but they sent me a woman to answer my prayers.”
She knew he was just talking about the money, but the look on his face as he did it was somewhat overwhelming. Ella wanted that look to mean he valued her in the same way he valued his exit from debt.
“So what are you going to do now that you’re a free man?” Ella wanted to know the answer to that more than she wanted to know almost anything, but she was trying to keep this conversation light.
“I don’t really know yet.” Tyson looked at his plate and moved the little amounts of food around with his fork. “After settling the loose ends, I think I’ll take a mini vacation and figure out what I want to do with this life I have. See if I can stay out of trouble for a few minutes.”
“Staying out of trouble would be a good thing… for both of us. I just want this whole thing to be over and to have the fresh start I thought I was going to get when I got out of prison.”
She didn’t know what she’d said to make the smile on his face whittle away to nothing and have a serious look settle in, but she wished she could take it back.
There wasn’t much said during the remainder of the meal, but she didn’t mind that much because she was thoroughly enjoying it. They topped it off with a fresh strawberry platter and sweet cream that had been slightly sweetened and whipped into firm thick peaks. This would have been even better if she could have decorated Tyson’s body with the cream and then licked it off at her leisure, but it didn’t look like he was in the mood for that, so she just ate most of the tray of strawberries and most of the cream.
When they were done, he brought her over to the bed, and she was expecting dessert in the form of his hot cock and all the wonderful things it could do. Unfortunately, he crawled up to nestle her against him and didn’t say a word. She wondered what he was up to, but she didn’t want to say anything as he had been pensive at the table. She’d give him a few more minutes, and then she’d jump his bones.

Tyson didn’t think she’d ever go to sleep, but he couldn’t rest until the deed with Bruce was over. Slowly he disengaged his arms from Ella, and her breathing pattern only changed for a second. She had to be tired just from the emotional chaos they’d been through the last few days.
He looked around the room and found the suitcase full of money. Tyson knew she’d told him how much she’d won and he remembered that she would have about ten grand after all was said and done. He thought about leaving a note, but was horrified by the thought that she would come and try to help, so he decided against it.
Counting out the ten thousand, he placed it on the side table and looked down at Ella. She was beautiful and deserved a brand new chance at life. He could hear in her voice how much she longed to stay out of trouble and walk the straight and narrow path of her idea of the non-criminal citizen, and he wished her the best of luck with that. What he didn’t know is if
