                "How did she die?" Alejandro inquired breathlessly, trying his best not to puke in his mask .
                "There are cut marks on the atlas, the first cervical vertebrae. Someone sliced her neck all the way to the bone. The good thing is she was probably dead before her body hit the ground. The poor girl bled out right there in the grave. Luminal found blood in the dirt all around her. "
                 Aiden's next question was, "Excuse my ignorance but since she is only skeletal now, can we determine if there was a rape?"
                "No unfortunately no tissue remained, and I haven't found any other DNA except the victim's. Keep in mind that she was a prostitute. I reckon it was a john or her pimp that did her in. "
                 The man shook his head sadly. "Sorry I don't have better news for you. I have two teenage daughters myself. I can't imagine what the Cavender’s are going through right now. If it were one of my daughters I'd find and kill the sumbitchmyself. Excuse my French. "
    Aiden came to the realization that this case would not be easy to solve using conventional means. There were virtually no clues and no leads. He would definitely have to rely on his abilities to bring a conclusion to this case. If he could get his hands on something tangible that the victim was wearing at the time of her death, it would act as a compass, pointing him in the right direction as far as the investigation was concerned .
                "Was there any clothing with the remains? "
                "Not even a rotted patch. I'm guessing she was stripped before or after she was killed." Realization dawned on the medical examiner, and he immediately snapped his fingers. "You know what? She was wearing something." The doctor consulted his autopsy notes. "She was wearing a necklace, a cross. It was costume jewelry, which is why she probably was still wearing it. Otherwise she probably would have sold it for drugs. The investigators checked it for fingerprints, which was a long shot. They gave it to her parents. "
    The necklace was the answer. Aiden would visit with Sherry's parents later on and get the necklace. Things were looking up quickly. At least he felt he had a place to start .
                 After a few more questions, Ramirez and Stone thanked the coroner for his time. They had removed their scrubs and were glad to be out of range of the fetid smell.
                Dr. Wilson was cleaning his glasses with the hem of his lab coat. "You know? I think, and I'm just gonna throw it out there, you may have a serial killer here. "
                 "A serial killer?"Ramirez repeated .
                The doctor bobbed his head. "I was thinking we had a murder case about a year ago that fit this exact same description except this time the body was found partially decayed in a secluded area. She had a knife wound in the neck, and there was no DNA on the body and she was not raped. The victim was a young female, probably around the same age as Sherry Cavender. As far as I can remember she was a Jane Doe. The body was never identified. We were thinking at the time she was probably a prostitute. "
                "Thanks for that doc, I appreciate it." Stone shook the older man's hand .
                 "You don't have to thank me. Just find that sumbitch! "
