“Are you okay? You were out for a very long time.”
He hugged her back. “I think so.” He let her go. “Maybe I’m
not going to get hit as bad as I did yesterday.”
She gave him a small smile. “You did once while you were out
cold. You made the whole bed shake and your entire body glowed. That was hours
ago.”
His brows drew together. “What time is it?”
“It’s around seven in the evening.”
    “I’ve been out that long?”
    “Yes.”
    “Did you worry?”
“Of course. It’s hard to see the man you love lying there,
not moving, and not sure what will happen to him.”
Ryder grew very still. “Did you just say you love me?”
Wren met his gaze. “Yes.” He opened his mouth as if to say
something, but she cut in before he got a word out. “I know it might seem a
little fast to you, but I’ve known right from the start that I’d give you my
heart. You don’t have to say it in return if you aren’t ready. I can wait.”
    “What I feel for you isn’t a crush. I—”
At Ryder’s sudden silence, Wren looked at him closely. His
body had taken on a slight glow. It was going to happen again. “Ryder?”
    “Oh shit.”
Not only did the bed shake, but everything on a flat surface
shook as well. As expected, everyone came running again. Ryder’s body glowed
brighter, a look of strain on his face as he gritted his teeth. Remembering how
her touch had helped him regain control of his powers, Wren reached over and
took his hand. It had no effect, but she didn’t let go.
“It isn’t working,” Ryder said. “It’s too much. I don’t
think I can control it.”
The bed shook harder. A stack of books Ryder had on a shelf
that hung on the wall crashed to the floor with a loud thud . The others
in the room fought to keep their balance as the tremors increased.
If Ryder didn’t stop, there was a good chance he’d bring the
house down around them. Wren took his other hand in hers, squeezing tight.
Still the house shook and the glow didn’t dissipate.
Desperate to do something to help Ryder, Wren did the first
thing that came to mind. Her touch had helped him the first time—maybe he only
needed more of it. She let go of his hands and cupped his face while she
brought her mouth to his. She kissed him with all the love she had for him. The
shaking stopped as suddenly as it had started.
Wren pulled away and smiled at Ryder. “That worked.”
The smile he’d started to give her quickly faded. The glow
around his body surged to life, as did the tremors. “More,” Ryder said. “I need
more.”
Wren didn’t hesitate. She wrapped her arms around him and
kissed Ryder for all she was worth. Ryder returned her embrace with the same
amount of heat. She vaguely heard Kajakti say, “I think that’s our cue to
leave.” The others left the room, the door shutting behind the last one to step
out into the hallway.
Wren and Ryder rose onto their knees and pressed their upper
bodies together. Wren’s taut nipples rubbed against Ryder’s bare, hard chest,
causing them to tighten more. Arousal pounded through her. If making love was
what Ryder needed to regain control of his powers, she was more than happy to
oblige. Her body ached for his.
“I have to have you,” Ryder said between kisses as he shoved
his hands up the back of her shirt and undid her bra.
    “Yes,” she gasped. “Now.”
He tore her top off over her head, taking her bra with it,
then returned to plundering her mouth. She undid the tie to his pajama bottoms
before she shoved her hand down the front of them, wrapping it around his hard
cock. This lovemaking was going to be hard and fast. Not that she wanted it any
differently. Her body was already on fire, her pussy growing wetter by the
second.
“I have to get inside you. I can’t wait.”
    “You don’t have to. Hurry.”
They tore at each other’s clothes. Since Wren had on more
than Ryder, she helped shed her jeans and panties. Once she was completely
naked, he
