that is exactly what she permitted her husband to do whenever he needed to.
The support she has shown him has not only made him into the man he is but has also built a bond between them that he would never want to diminish.
“Where is Caleb?” he asked, breaking the silence.
    “He’s taking a nap.”
    “How is he?”
“Today is a good day. He was up this morning playing some new video game that he and Justin begged me to buy. “
    “Where is daddy’s little girl?”
“She is on the phone with you right now.” She joked
“No. You‘re daddies naughty girl, I am asking about his good one.” He responded.
“Well in that case, Jasmine is next door at a Barbie dress up party. You should have seen her walking next door with this suitcase full of Barbie clothes. They are supposed to be having a fashion show later on today and I am in charge of the after party.”
“Well don’t be cheap with the hors d’oeuvres, make sure you get double stuff Oreos.” He joked.
“Yes sir. Should I use the fine china and sterling silver?” She added.
    “No, Dixie-ware is fine.”
The two laughed and talked for about another fifteen minutes, before he confessed that he was starving and had to get something to eat before he passed out. He assured her that he would be strong no matter what and that he would be glad when all of this was over and they were able to move on to the next step in life.
So many negative obstacles had come into play since their marriage he feels as though they are being cheated out of each other. He knows that once Caleb is O.K. he would then be able to focus on getting his family to where they need to be.
“Tyrin!” Khalil yelled up the stairs.
    “What’s up?” he yelled back.
    “Come eat.”
Tyrin came downstairs and sat at the dining table eagerly awaiting the delivery of a breakfast that he knew would be off the hook. Grapes, cantaloupe slices and strawberries were already on display next to a dew-covered carafe of orange juice. In the center of the table was a basket full of mini blueberry muffins that were still warm to the touch. Khalil entered the room and set a plate in front of him filled with scrambled eggs, smothered potatoes and onions, chicken wings, homemade waffles, and grits made to perfection. He lovingly looked at Khalil, gave him a satisfied wink and hungrily picked up his knife and fork.
The two sat and feasted on the meal and somehow found time to have communication between all of the chewing that was taking place. After loading the dishwasher and cleaning the kitchen, they flopped down on the sofa. They put in an old movie that they had both been trying to watch for the past few weeks and cuddled up into each other. An hour and a half later they awakened and realized that this was yet again another failed attempt to try and figure out what happened to the white looking black girl that was embarrassed to have a black mother.
“Tyrin, I had the weirdest dream while I was away.”
“Really, what was it about?” he asked as he looked over the top of Khalil’s head in an effort to watch ESPN.
“I can’t really explain it, but I get chills just thinking about it.”
“Was it a nightmare? Or a bad pastrami sandwich you ate.” He joked as he focused on sports highlights.
“Shut up stupid. I was in a room and…” the ringing of the telephone interrupted the story Khalil was about to tell. As the phone rang they looked at each other and tried to figure out which one of them was going to answer it, neither of them looked too interested in picking up the phone so it went to the machine to be checked later.
    “Baby.” Tyrin said.
    “Yes.”
“I made us reservations for dinner tonight.”
    “Where?”
    “Boa.”
“Really! What’s the occasion?” Khalil asked. “I missed you and it was just my way of doing something nice. I also want to take you shopping today and spoil you like I used too, because I know you want to be cute for pride weekend.” He
