people strewn all around at their feet. The sight of so many dead troops boiled her blood. She would kill them slowly for what they’d done.
But just as she was closing in, the unthinkable happened. The powerful human; the one who could rematerialize anywhere he wanted, appeared behind her seat on the shuttle. Before she could react, she found herself in a different place altogether and her ship was nowhere to be seen.
She was standing on the surface of the planet and he was a dozen steps away, watching her intently. He backed up a few more steps as she tried to figure out what he was up to. She reached for her rifles but then she noticed something in the sky, quickly approaching. It was her own ship, crash-landing without her in the cockpit. The human took another couple of steps away from her as she frantically tried to yank her rifles free of their mounts. Her ship cast a shadow over her as she struggled.
She gave up on the weapons and tried to get out of the way of the crashing ship but it was too large and she was too late.
The human took one last look at her and then he vanished ju st as the ship smashed into her, killing her on impact.

Getting Personal

Shaylo saw the entire thing from his First Mate’s armor mounted camera. He’d activated it the moment she had left so he could gather further intel on the enhanced humans should she fail.
He saw the human infiltrate her ship and then saw as the view changed, showing the surface of the Earth. Shaylo saw the approaching shuttle coming right at her before she noticed it, but without a First Mate to open up a line of communication he wasn’t able to warn her in time. He saw the smug human stare at her and then vanish right before the ship crashed, killing her instantly.
He was pacing when his new First Mate arrived before him. Something about the new First Mate angered him so he acted on impulse. He unsheathed his sword and lunged at him, piercing his abdomen all the way through.
The new First Mate’s eyes went wide and he said, “Why did you do that?”
Shaylo had no idea. He just knew he was mad. He pulled the sword away as it made a sucking noise, splashing blood all over the floor once it was free. Then he cleaved through the dying First Mate’s neck with a single swipe.
But he still wasn’t satisfied. In fact, his anger intensified with each passing moment.
He sat at his command console and stared at the screen showing the super humans. He zoomed in just in time to see them huddle together and then vanish from view. The sensors got to work and found them again, but the closest troops were nowhere near them.
And then he realized what they were doing. Those damn humans were picking them off one by one, and then retreating to new cover. It might take years, but if they continued to fall into their trap, the humans could eventually win.
It was in Shaylo’s nature to hunt his would-be victims which meant chasing prey came naturally to him and his kind. And the humans were using their very nature against them.
He had to find a way to force the humans to stop and fight. He had to find a way to lure them in, and he thought he knew just the way to go about it.

A Lose - Lose Situation for mankind

Admiral Liktar rubbed his brow. The scouts had informed him that the Grey invasion had commenced some time ago. That should have set the countdown clock in motion, but so far the Greys hadn’t moved towards his home planet. He didn’t know what that meant. The humans stood little chance against Shaylo but somehow they were stalling him.
That also made him nervous. If the humans were formidable enough to defeat a warrior of Shaylo’s caliber, which was highly unlikely and maybe even impossible, then they were a force to be reckoned with. He had no doubt that the politicians back home would worry that the genetically advanced humans might be a new threat that should be dealt with before it came knocking at their own door.
It was unfortunate but if the
