what was happening to her. Did she deserve it? Of course she did or why would Kamuel have been sent to complete such a task? She was getting her just desserts.
He brought her face up to his with a light touch of his fingers under her chin. He kissed the tip of her nose then nudged her toward her clothing.
“I didn’t mean to make you sad. Get dressed. I’ll clean up in here, and then I’ll take you home.”
If she hadn’t been so drained, she would have taken offense at him ordering her about, but she would let it slide. Her mouth quirked in a wry smile as she leaned down to pick up her clothing and began to dress as he’d commanded. Clay was busy wiping down the seat where they’d played.
“You do know if I wasn’t so tired, I’d give you an earful.”
He snickered. It was a sound that she wanted to hear every second of the day if she could. Compelled to move forward, she stopped just in front of him. When he looked up, she pressed a soft kiss to his lips. The smile that spread across his face let her see inside the demon to the man that he used to be and in fact still was. Adam. She blinked and then the moment was gone.
Turning back to the chair, he began cleaning it again. In that moment her feelings were much deeper than she let on. How to hide it? She had to hide it. She couldn’t be hurt by him again because it would destroy her this time.
“I think the chair is clean,” she joked.
“Yeah, I’m sure you’re right. Let’s go. I’ve put the vibrator and the lube in your purse so we can use those at home.”
“Speaking of toys, there’s one I’ve been meaning to get for you.”
    “Oh?”
“Yep, it’s one actually for the both of us. When I saw it, I knew it would be something we could have some fun with.” It was no use trying to hold back all the excitement she was feeling at the thought of using it on him.
“Do tell. Especially with that shit-eating grin you have on your face, I can tell you have been plotting this for a while.”
“It’s a cock ring with a clit stimulator and a wireless remote control.” She chattered on incessantly, telling him all the details of the cock ring, the good reviews it had received and what it should do for the both of them.
While she talked, he’d grabbed her hand and started locking up. He paused for just a moment and then with a shake of his head he kept moving until they were at the front door. He opened it, stood just outside as she set the alarm code and then followed him out, locking the door behind them. Gazing out into the parking lot, she noted that his car was right beside hers.
“So you’re not interested in the cock ring, I take it?” She glanced in his direction.
    “Why do you say that?”
“You shook your head and got silent on me. So that makes me think you won’t try it.”
“Hmm … yeah, that’s because I’m thinking about it.” He put his hand at the small of her back and walked her to the vehicles.
“Oh, so that’s what it means.” She unlocked the car and got settled inside. He indicated he wanted to talk to her, so she rolled down the window. He leaned in with his arms resting against the car.
“Means, I’ll think about. I will see you at home. I have one more stop to make.”
“Sounds good. I need to take a long soak in the tub anyway.”
He gave her a peck on her lips and then moved away. She started the car and drove off. She was losing herself to him, heart and soul. How on earth would she keep her needs separate from her heart?

Clay watched her drive away, waiting till her headlights were mere specks on the horizon. Satisfied she was gone, he rotated toward the angel that stood at the edge of the parking lot. He headed in that direction. Once he reached him, they both blended seamlessly into the darkness.
The stood in the in between, the realm between the earth and the heaven—the crossover point at the Nether. It was a place where they were neither in darkness nor light. It was a place
