took him in again. She didn’t move and neither did he.
    “We are a part of each other. I will help you protect your Seer.”
    Shifters worked differently than any other beings. As much as he cared for Talia, he knew his primary responsibility was to protect Genevieve. Talia rested her head against his broad shoulder and sighed softly as their bodies calmed down.
    “Talia, you know I have to go back. The Fallen are coming.”
    She nodded, and then sat up straighter. “Take me with you?”
    He hesitated. The Generals were very particular about who entered the compound. Suddenly, his mind filled with Genevieve’s voice. “Bring her, Kota. She is needed.”
    The draw to return to Genevieve got stronger the more time he spent away from her. His pull toward the Seer felt different now. He felt as though he needed Talia with him in order to fully protect her. “Come with me.”
    A soft smile spread across her face as she nodded her head. A moment later she kissed him gently on the lips. She darted off his lap and disappeared in the trees for a moment. When she came back she wore a white dress made of chiffon that flowed in the breeze. Kota quickly dressed and led her back toward the main house.

    * * * *

    Genevieve paced the bathroom relentlessly. Having seen every single aspect of Kota having sex with the Native American woman, Genevieve felt a mix of jealousy and protectiveness. She knew nothing of shifter relationships or how it all worked, but she sensed the woman needed to return with Kota. Genevieve felt something deep in her soul. Something that told her as strong as she would be with just Kota and Eli, with this woman now bound to Kota, the foursome would be unstoppable as long as they didn’t get separated in a fight.
    A soft tap on the door brought her back to reality. “Genevieve, are you all right, love?”
    “I’m fine. I’ll be out in a second.”
    She quickly showered and dressed in jeans and a tank top. The bedroom was empty, so she made her way down to the sitting room where she heard voices. When she walked in, she saw the beautiful woman Kota had been with in the woods. Upon seeing Genevieve enter the room, Kota relaxed immediately and the woman stood up. She circled Genevieve, twirling a strand of her long auburn hair around her hand when the woman passed behind her.
    “So, you’re the Seer?” Genevieve smiled when she heard the woman speak. The air of no nonsense rang loudly in the quiet room. So many thoughts shot through her mind, and none of them were her own. She shut the shifter and the vampire out and focused solely on the female in front of her.
    “Yes, and you are the female who cares for my Guardian?”
    Genevieve sifted through the female’s thoughts of love, pride, want, need, and uncertainty. Overall, Genevieve felt more than heard the unspoken bond she herself shared with this female shifter.
    “I don’t know much about shifters, but I know you are supposed to be here. I did not ask for this responsibility, but it has been handed to me anyway. I’m very protective of my men, female.” Genevieve moved in close and whispered the last part in her ear. “If you hurt my shifter, I will tear you apart.” Her voice was a menacing growl as she spoke. She knew Eli and Kota wouldn’t hear her because she blocked them completely.
    To Genevieve’s surprise, a bell-like laugh spilled from the female’s lips. “I knew if Kota was destined to protect a Seer, she would have to be fierce.” She turned to face Genevieve, a lovely smile on her lips. “You, Seer, are fierce enough.” The Female bowed low, sweeping her elegant hands out to the side. “I am Talia. I will stand beside you.” She met Genevieve’s eyes when she said that part. “And I will protect you with my life.”

Chapter Eight

    Genevieve watched as Kota and Talia sparred in the gym. Talia had speed and strength, same as Kota. Her presence would be needed greatly when the Fallen came. They had twelve hours
