pinned her to the bed with his weight, and the menacing glitter in the
    amber eyes was totally unnerving.
“Why?“ His voice was raw. “Why did you let me seduce you if you don’t love me?“
“You’re the most physically exciting man I’ve ever known, Trev. And, it has been six months….“ She
let the explanation trail off, not knowing what else to say.
“You used me!“ He looked thunderstruck at the realization.
“Trev, there’s nothing wrong with two people finding a little pleasure in each other’s arms,“ she began
anxiously, feeling horribly disconcerted by the argument Whatever she had been thinking when she’d
-allowed him to carry her off to bed, it wasn’t that he would be infuriated afterward!
“You used me,“ he repeated as if he still couldn’t believe it “I came all this way to find a woman I
thought loved me and she goes to bed with me because she happens to find me dynamite in the sack! Damn
    it to hell!“
He moved, heaving himself off her in barely controlled fury. At the edge of the bed he stood looking
down at her, eyes flaming, expression taut and hawklike. Planting his hands on his hips, he towered over
her, uncompromisingly male and thoroughly incensed.
“Trev, you have no right to be angry! You’re the one who seduced me, remember?“ Reyna fumbled for
the edge of the sheet, pulling it up to her throat as she struggled to a sitting position. She sat coiled on the
bed, her green eyes wary and defensive.
“What’s going on in that sharp little brain of yours?“ he gritted tightly. “Are you doing this out of
revenge? Are you deliberately trying to punish me by refusing to admit you love me?“
    “No!“
“What do you want from me?“ he demanded ferociously. “Why did you go to bed with me?“
    “I’ve told you!“
“You’re going to sit there and tell me that you feel nothing more than a physical attraction now?“ he
    hissed unbelievingly.
“There’s nothing wrong with a physical attraction. It’s all you ever felt for me six months ago!“ she
    retorted.
“So what happens next?“ he shot back. “I’m here for another eight days, remember? Are you planning
on having a torrid affair with me for the remainder of my stay and then casually waving good-bye when I
get on the plane to go back to Seattle?“
“Not if you’re going to behave like this after sex!“ she snapped spiritedly. “I hate scenes and I have no
intention of putting up with them for the next eight days and nights!“
“I could throttle you at the moment – do you realize that?“
“Yes, so I’d prefer that you leave as quickly as possible!“
“Why you little…!“ Taking obvious hold of his raging temper, Trev paced to the foot of the bed, found
his swim trunks and stepped back into them. Then he grabbed one of the beach towels which had fallen on
the floor and turned for the bedroom door.
At the threshold he halted and glanced back at her over his shoulder. From across the room, Reyna
could see that he had his anger under control, but the golden eyes would have melted anything they
    touched.
“You want an eight-day affair? I’ll give you an eight-day affair. We’ll see which of us gets the most use
out of the other!“ He stepped through the door and then caught hold of the jamb, turning back for one
    parting shot.
“And we’ll see just how good you are at casually waving good-bye when I get on the damn plane for
Seattle! Because you know something, Reyna Mackenzie? I don’t believe you. I think you really do love
me, and eight days from now you’ll be getting on the plane with me!“

Reyna sat in front of the open sliding glass doors, staring moodily out into her garden and the sea beyond. A
ripe slice of papaya rested invitingly on the plate in front of her and she had already squeezed lime juice
onto the fruit But she was having a difficult time working up an appetite this morning.
Last night had left her unnerved and incredibly
