problem, all right“
He raised his head suddenly to meet her languorous gaze. She saw the flash of amusement fade as
something else took its place in the amber eyes.
“Ah, Reyna, my sweet I feel like a new man tonight,“ he vowed a little thickly.
    “Do you?“ She smiled gently.
“After six months of trying to live with my own stupidity, I’m finally back where I want to be. In your
arms. This time everything will be different,“ he added resolutely.
    “Will it?“
“Reyna, FU take care of your love this time. I swear it!“
She lowered her lashes before the intensity in him. All of a sudden his weight began to prove
    uncomfortable. She stirred beneath him.
    “Reyna?“
“You’re rather heavy, Trev,“ she tried to say lightly. He didn’t move.
“Reyna,“ he said again, this time a little more deliberately. “It was good for you, wasn’t it, sweetheart?
You couldn’t fake a response like the one you just gave me!“
She wondered whom he was trying to convince, her or himself. “It was good, Trev. You must know mat
There’s never been another man who could make me go out of my head the way you do.“
He seemed to relax a little, his mouth curving at the corners as he lowered his head to drop a soft kiss
on either edge of her lips.
“Has there been anyone else since you left Seat-tie?“ he whispered. “I know I have no right to ask,
    but…“
“No, Trev,“ she returned with perfect honesty, “there’s been no one else. Were you telling me the truth?
That you haven’t wanted anyone else since I left?“
“It was the truth! I haven’t even wanted to take another woman to bed in six months, only you. When I
saw you last night wading in the sea, it was all I could do not to pull you down onto the sand and take you
then and there. Six months is a very long time, Reyna,“ he explained as if he were afraid she might not
appreciate what he had been through.
“Poor Trev,“ she teased gently, touching the side of his cheek with questing fingertips. “It must have
    been rough on you.“
“It was getting damn intolerable!“ he gritted and men shook his head as if still a Utile dazed at having
found her in his arms again. “But everything is all right now, isn’t it?“ His palms tightened slightly on her
face and he trapped her gaze.
“What do you want from me now, Trev?“ she whispered, a strange wariness crawling down her spine.
“The words,“ he muttered heavily. “The words you gave me last time. Reyna, tell me you love me.“
She stiffened, her body reacting as if he had struck her. Her mind recoiled instantly. Very carefully she
    said, “But I don’t, Trev.“
At once she realized he didn’t think he’d heard properly. And then the golden eyes slitted dangerously.
“The hell you don’t, Reyna Mackenzie! Don’t lie to me, not now!“
Sensing the danger of the moment, Reyna wanted to retreat She knew a surge of anger at him for
making her feel that way and she rallied her defenses at once.
“I’m not lying to you, Trev,“ she managed steadily. “I’ve been telling you since the moment you arrived
that I am no longer in love with you.“
“I don’t believe you! You wouldn’t have surrendered again in my arms the way you just did if you
weren’t still in love with me!“
“Don’t tell me you’re one of those men who thinks a woman can’t feel passionate without being in
love,“ she mocked tightly, trying to soothe him with humor. It was a dismal failure.
“Damn you! I don’t believe you!“
She saw the growing frustration and rage in him and began to panic. Had he really believed that
everything could be put back the way it had been six months ago with one night in bed?
“Trev, please, I’m sorry if you misunderstood, but I never misled you. I never implied I was still in love
    with you!“
For a moment she wasn’t certain what he was going to do and she wished desperately that she wasn’t
in such a vulnerable position. He
