Out of Nowhere
expense behind all of this.  Vicky made it back to her floor and found an empty bathroom stall where she just let the tears fall.
Jason saw her leave.  He tried to get to her as fast as he could but the executive team and others wanted face time with him and blocked his departure.  Jason gave Franklin a look for help so he could get away and explain everything to Vicky.  He could only imagine all the crazy thoughts that were going through her head.  Franklin did his best to block for Jason.  By the time Jason made it out of the hall he’d lost her somewhere in the crowd.
Vicky made it back to her desk.  There was no way she could concentrate.  She could barely make out the words on her screen.  If she could just get through the next couple of hours she could get out of here and go home.  A few moments later, Sandy came over to Vicky’s desk looking very concerned and nervous. “Vicky, Mr. Rutherford would like to speak to you.  Since it is so close to the end of your shift why don’t you just shut it down and I’ll see you on Monday” . Vicky turned around and there stood Jason Kincaid Rutherford at the end of her aisle…in Customer Service.  He’d pulled rank.  Vicky slowly gathered her things together and shut down her system.  What could she say? She couldn’t tell the President and CEO to go to hell and keep her job could she?
She walked towards Jaay err Jason but couldn’t meet his eyes.  However, everyone else in the office was curious as to what Mr. Jason Kincaid Rutherford was doing in customer service and asking to speak to Vicky.  “Can I talk to you for a moment?” Vicky nodded and they went into a nearby conference room.  As soon as the door closed Jason tried to speak to her “Vicky, I’m sorry”.  Vicky put her arms up as if to protect herself from him “Please don’t.” When she finally looked him in the eyes there was so much hurt and anger “You lied to me about everything. What kind of mind games are you playing?” Jason didn’t know what to say because he did lie to her but not about everything.  He could see how she would think he was playing games but he wasn’t.  He had to try to convince her.  “Vicky, please give me a chance to explain. When I met you…I mean what happened between us...I’m not saying this right”.  Jason took a deep breath “What I’m trying to say is I fell for you the moment I saw you”. Vicky grabbed a hold of her stomach as if she were in pain “Oh GOD! Jason is it? Please stop with the lies.  You fell so in love with me that you couldn’t even give me your real name.  What did you think I would do with it? Did you think that someone like me didn’t deserve your real name? Did you think I’d go to the press and tell them that you were slumming in the ghetto with your black girlfriend? Is that why these past weeks I haven’t met any of your friends or family? Were you embarrassed by me?” She said the last part in a desperate whisper. Jason just looked at her he didn’t know what to say.  He couldn’t believe she’d even think that.  Vicky took his silence as her answer.  She pushed him away from her and ran out of the door.

Chapter 15
Vicky didn’t really have the money to spend but she took a cab home.  She needed to get herself together before it was time to pick up Angel from daycare in a couple of hours.  When she arrived home she just sat down on her couch feeling numb.  She didn’t think she had any tears left until she felt them roll down her cheek.  She hadn’t felt this awful since the death of her mother. Twenty minutes later there was knocking on her door.  Powerful men always seemed to want what they couldn’t have.  The knocking turned into pounding.  “Vicky, I know you are in there so please let me in.  Please let me explain.  I’m not going anywhere until you let me inside” Jason stood outside the door.  He must have rushed after her as soon as she left CkR International to
