automatic doors at the same time the clerk stops ringing up the old lady in front of me, so they can both stare at me. "She's eighteen!" I clarify before they call the police.
I pay the fifty bucks for the pill that's worth a million if it does what it's supposed to, and climb back in the limo. I know everyone is looking at me, but I don't care. This is Sex Ed 101 in session. I open the fucking box, read the directions, and stretch across the car to hand Sadie the foil containing the pill. She's now sitting beside the purple dress girl, probably because she knows I'm about to lose my shit. Not about to, I am losing my shit. I want to see her take the goddamn pill since I'm having a hard time trusting her now. How dare she make a decision like this without telling me?
"Math lesson, kids, Plan B is only ninety-five percent effective, while condoms are ninety-nine percent effective. That four percent makes a big fucking difference."
I sit back in my seat, scrubbing my hands over my face so hard I might peel the skin off. I'm exhausted and cranky, I know that but can't help it. How could she do something so irresponsible?
"I don't feel so good," Sadie mutters and I glance up to find her head on the other girl's shoulder. Yeah, I know the feeling. My stomach isn't real steady at the moment with the thought of being a dad. I love my nephew Xavier, but he's crazier and messier than a shithouse rat. I'm not ready to deal with the kind of lifestyle change that includes bottles and diapers.
The limo barely comes to a stop before Sadie lurches to the door and throws up in her driveway.
    "Fuuuck," I grumble.
The pamphlet said the pill could cause nausea and vomiting, and if it's thrown up within the first two hours of taking it, she'll need to take another one. It looks like I'll be making a trip back to the pharmacy.
I get sympathetic looks from the other three guys while the girls glare daggers at me as I climb out of the car.
"You okay?" I ask Sadie who's leaning with her back against the side of the limo. She shakes her hanging head in response. Yeah, I'm not, either.
The porch light comes on a second before her dad opens the front door, so I quietly tell Sadie to call me when he leaves for the gym and I'll bring her another pill. With a quick nod she pushes off from the limo and goes inside without another word, dodging her dad when he tries to talk to her.
"Jude!" Coach calls out to me before I can escape with everyone else.
I straighten my spine and roll my shoulders back while trying hard to keep the fact that I fucked his daughter all night from showing on my face. Oh yeah, and possibly knocked her up.
"What's wrong with Sadie?" he asks.
"It was a just a long night. Everyone's exhausted."
"She looked upset. Did that dickhead cause problems?" he asks.
Yes! Thank you, dickhead. I'll roll with that excuse. "Yeah, he said some shit to her. I told her to forget him, and I informed him while squeezing his throat that if I heard he'd said anything else about her I'd teach him some manners with my fists."
    Coach laughs. "Thanks."
"No problem. I'm heading home to get some sleep," I tell him, then remember what Sadie had said about giving up her beach trip. "Oh, and what the hell? Did you con your daughter out of senior week like you conned me into this?"
"Can you blame me? A bunch of young girls on their own for the first time in their lives, making shitty decisions for a week while every dick in sight tries to screw them? No way."
My jaw clenches at that horrible thought, but I push forward on her behalf. "Still, you let her think she couldn’t go to prom just to make her give it up."
"Yeah, it was probably wrong," he says with a nod. “I’ll let her go if you agree to go with them, make sure they stay out of trouble, and keep the assholes away."
"You're kidding," I mutter. Did he really believe I'd kept my hands off of Sadie all night? I'm not that good of a liar. "I can't do that. I should be at the
