Forty-Two opened his eyes and straightened, the artificial
pulse in his throat rapid. An unknown remote source had reactivated him and
tried to override his internal command program, but which one? And why? Was it
Falynn?
Apparently he’d been unceremoniously shoved into a dark
corner of the bar, and he scanned the drinking, dancing and copulating patrons
of the rowdy establishment, searching for her. She was not present in the
crowd. Nor was the tall bouncer with the silver eyes and unusual bio-rhythms
who had deactivated him.
His chest grew tight, a surge of hot anger and deep concern
charging his positronic matrix. The expression on Falynn’s face when she’d
first seen the bouncer left little doubt in Forty-Two’s processing unit who he
was—Unit Zero Agent Thanatos.
The shock and primal desire in her eyes said it all.
Switching his visual scan to read thermal waves, his gaze
tracked Falynn’s heat signature to The Steam’s main entryway. The fading colors
rippling the air made his chest squeeze tighter. She had been gone for
sixty-seven point four five minutes.
Sixty-seven point four five minutes possibly in the hands of
the most efficient, brutal and successful assassin the GU and Unit Zero had
ever employed.
Sixty-seven point four five minutes possibly in the arms of
the one man capable of destroying her control.
Another surge of hot anger scalded through Forty-Two’s
circuits, pushing his E.S.O.U.L into unknown parameters. His fists clenched,
and for point zero zero one second, his primary program—combat mode—activated.
The indestructible metal exo-battle armor concealed beneath his artificial
flesh began to deploy, singeing the back of his neck as it sliced free of its
living camouflage.
He swiftly shut down the unexpected, unplanned reaction, an
immediate rerouting of code and command deactivating the armor’s deployment.
Until he knew what situation Falynn was in, he needed to maintain his human
appearance. Slashing his skin to ribbons with interlocking metal plates because
he was jealous wouldn’t help her if she needed him to continue his current
façade.
Without pausing for anyone in his way—who was going to cause
trouble for a seven-foot man who looked like he could fold you in two with just
his little fingers?—he brutally shoved his way across the crowded dance floor
and exited the bar, scanning sensors locked on Falynn’s heat signature.
He had to find her. Before Thanatos could kill her.
    Or worse. Kiss her.

The exquisite pleasure-pain was absolute. Falynn ground her
teeth, throwing back her head into the hard, muscled shoulder behind her.
Corvan’s dimensional twin took full advantage of her position and captured her
neck with his mouth, sucking with brutal greed on the curve where her neck
became her collarbone, squeezing and molding her breast with equal force. His
fingers continued to work her sex, delving and wriggling into her sodden folds
even as Corvan sucked and nibbled on her clit.
Another wave of concentrated pleasure took her and she
gnashed her teeth together. Incinerating sensations consumed her, radiating
from her sex and her neck, rolling through her body to collide and converge in
her very core. The gripping pulses of her sudden orgasm still lingered between
her spread legs, pulses now being fed and nourished by the two men worshipping
her body. Tension—squirming, molten, prickling tension—began building again,
tingling in her spine, the soles of her feet. She rammed her hips forward,
harder against Corvan’s mouth and his dimensional twin’s hand. The
