completely bare. Her scent was even better when
she was like this, her unique fragrance sweetened by arousal, and
when he kissed her wet folds, he felt them throb against his lips.
He groaned in wordless delight, tinged with regret; if their games
affected her half as much as him, she would have suffered badly for
not getting off. She was so selfless, his mistress. But he couldn’t
have that. It was his sole purpose to please her.
    He licked over her sweet,
swollen sex, applying more pressure on the eager, pulsating clit,
begging for release. He kissed the neglected little peak before he
took it between his lips, gently sucking it. He felt her shake
beneath his hands and mouth, heard her sharp intakes of breath. He raked his
teeth over her clit before he plunged his tongue as deep into her
core as he could, pressing his upper lip against the straining nub
on top of it. He curled and extended his tongue in a soft,
thrusting rhythm, aiming to ignite the nerves at her most sensitive
entrance. Her body, jerking beneath his ministrations, told him he
succeeded, and he admired her for not making a sound.
He drank her delicious juices like a
drowning man, his movements getting wild and frantic. He was so
thirsty he would die if he couldn’t get more of her, he coaxed more
and sweetness into his greedy mouth, whimpering with pleasure and
need. He pressed his tongue upwards and pushed his upper lip down
on her clit at the same moment, instantly feeling her sheath
constrict in orgasm. He drank her come with manic enthusiasm,
moaning in bliss when he found it to be even better than what he’d
had before. He wanted to stay between her legs for hours, but when
he heard her soft voice ordering him to straighten up, he knew he
had to follow.
He did so in regret, but didn’t hesitate for
a second. He would obey her no matter what she demanded. He was
hers. She crooked her finger at him and he sank into her embrace,
his head against her thundering heart, hips cradled between her
still-spread legs. She covered him with a blanket and wrapped her
arms around him, pushing her hands into his hair.
He felt sleepy and warm and
so happy he
shook all over like a frightened animal.
    Which wasn’t far from the
truth ,
because beneath the thrum of his pleasure, he felt the sadness that
ran through her small frame.
    He closed his eyes,
a nd was
scared.

Tara felt shaken to the core.
She hadn’t
come like that in years and had never felt so much while she
climaxed, never felt so open and raw and vulnerable and
desperate.
She had to let him go. She could never
love again. Couldn’t be unfaithful to the one man who had
worshipped her as long as his short life had lasted. She pulled
Aaron closer, her eyes stinging with tears she couldn’t
cry.
Why now, God? Why do you send me love
when I’m not ready for it?

Chapter 8

    “ She’ll reject me,” Aaron
whispered desperately , “and my heart will break.”
“ Come home now, Aaron,” Grace
said over the phone, “don’t let her hurt you. Your friends, your
home… we’re all here. You don’t have to do this. You’re a wonderful
man. You don’t deserve to be treated like that.”
“ She treats me like a prince,
Grace,” he cried out, “and I can’t leave. I have to try, even if it
might crush me in the end.”
“How do you know that she doesn’t love
you back?” his friend asked.
    “ I don’t know it,” Aaron
answered, “but I know that she’s sad. Confused. Messed up. I can
feel it whenever we get really, really close. Our souls touch, for
god’s sake, and she reacts by getting scared, miserable, all but
scrambling away from me. I don’t know if I can fight against
whatever is holding her, but I need to try. If I don’t, I can’t
look into the mirror without regretting it for the rest of my
life.”
    “I’m scared, Aaron.”
“ Me, too.” He snorted. “I never
expected love to feel like this. But I guess nobody does at first,
huh? I’m in over my head. I don’t
